Bishamon's Fury, Opposing Shugenja?
Quick question concerning the Web of Lies Ritual Spell "Bishamon's Fury." Do any of the other Shugenja in the Ritual, save the "original caster" who attaches and casts the spell, need to be opposing destroyed units in the battle?
All the participants in the ritual must be at the same location. (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 90)
Rules question
When loruko moves into a battle and creates a region is it permanent? Does it go away after the turn has ended?
"The following are not "ongoing effects." [JA, 18 June 2003] - Creating something (e.g., a token or a Province). - Destroying something. - Bowing or straightening something. - Dishonoring or re-honoring a Personality. - Creating Honor. - Producing Gold. - Bringing something into play." (Accumulated Rulings, "Effects")
Those sorts of things don't have an "until end of turn" duration unless specified on the text.
Utaku Tarako
ok... as worded Utaku Tarako can kill anyone, whether they're in the battle or not, as long as she's there, is this correct?
Yes.
and if so was this intentional
Yes.
or can we expect to see errata?
Even if her function were not intentional, she would not receive errata for that reason alone. Cards only receive errata for mechanical problems or environmental issues.
and if there will be errata will it be before new years? (topaz championship)?
The card's wording interacts cleanly with the rules of the game. There will be no errata for mechanical reasons. Errata for strength reasons is as likely as it is with any other card, and won't occur without careful analysis and good reason.
Well Laid Plains
Hi I have a question about this card.
I read a few days ago that it is ok if I target a Courtier who is also Samurai I can play this card for the action to target courtier and samurai, even if it is the same Personality. Today I heard that there is a ruling that I cannot target the same person for it. So I wanna know if there is such a ruling because I didn?t hear of it.
No. You can't target a Samurai-Courtier to meet both aspects of 3rd Action's cost. It asks for two targets (a Samurai Personality AND a Courtier Personality), and you'd best give it two targets. You can't have a Samurai-Ninja meet 2 requirements on Kiss of the Scorpion either.
Rules for 12 December 2004 [RULES]
Does P'an Ku's ability to copy someone's printed chi effectively "reset" his chi from any permanent chi penalties?
No. It changes his printed value. All existing penalties and bonuses to his current Chi are still working.
If P'an Ku is out and I slap an +3F item on him, and then use his ability to copy someone's printed force of say, 6, will he have 6F or 9F, and why?
9F
6F (printed) + 3F = 9F (current)
How is this different from other effects that copy force and/or chi, like shosuro technique?
It is different because P'an Ku says
"Open: Once per turn, target another Personality. Permanently copy the target¹s printed Force."
(or likewise with Chi on its other ability)
P'an Ku does not say what to copy the target's printed Force *to*, so it copies to the exact same stat: P'an Ku's *printed* Force. In other words, P'an Ku sets his printed Force to that of the target. This is different from effects like Shosuro Technique that set *current* Force to a new value.
That should cover everything from Friday, December 17. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
