Some Questions about Rules
1. I have a personality temporarily removed from play by Suitengus Surge then my opponent destroys the shugenga who cast the spell. Does the personality return to play or not. My opponent says no because the spell is no longer in play to allow the personality to return.
The Action has already been played. Destroying the source of the Action won't change anything. The effect will still resolve and return the unit to play.
2. The blank regions that are created by Shinjo Loruko, are they Singular? If so does that mean that only one of these blank regions be in play for each player?
They are singular, by Rulebook definition, but they lack a card title, so Singular shouldn't matter. Singular only works if the cards share a title, and Loruko doesn't give them one (which doesn't count as sharing a title).
3. This is an Open question. I challenge a personality to a duel, as the person who issued the challange I have first opportunity to react. I pass, my opponent then Shosuro Techniques to equal my Chi. Can I then Kakita Tech to get the first opportunity to focus or strike or has my chance to play this card passed.
All players need to pass in sequence for a particular timing window to close. You should get a chance to play all of your Reactions in turn as priority loops around the table again and again.
Re-asking: Suitengu's Surge & Targeting a unit
Marty, you miss this question from last Monday.
Really? Dag. This looks awfully familiar.
1. I have a Personality with a Follower attached. My opponent plays a Kolat Assassin. Could I React with Suitengu's Surge?
Yes.
2. I have a Personality with no cards attached. My opponent plays a Kolat Assassin. Could I React with Suitengu's Surge?
Yes.
My problem is the "targets a unit" requirement. Some actions target the whole unit (To Do What We Must, Fear effects, Ambush, Block Supply Lines, ...), and others target only the Personality itself (duels, Kaeru Fields, Refugees, ...) Then I am not sure if I could react with Suitengu's Surge when the action only target the Personality who leaders the unit.
Check the rulebook, page 73, last sentence, in italics.
"An effect that targets a unit also targets the Personality leading it, and vice-versa."
legality of vengance?
is "time for vengance" legal as of web of lies, or some future set? for those who dont know its apperantly a mispacked box topper in some web of lies booster boxes..
It will not become legal with Web of Lies. It will wait for a future set to become legal, depending on its formal release date.
YU question
Can personalities with YU use it even if they are bowed ?
Yu is a trait. The Rulebook has a special effect that resolves when Personalities with the Yu trait are in a losing army in a battle resolution. This is a Rulebook Effect, not a card's Ability. Being bowed does not affect whether or not a card has Yu, and the Rulebook Effect does not care whether cards with Yu are bowed or unbowed.
That should cover everything from Thursday, December 16. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
