Moetechi being used by shadowlands
Would I then be right in assuming a local shadowlands player is playing Moetechi incorrectly, as "bow Moetechi and lose honor equal to his chi" requires paying a cost of losing honor, something shadowlands can't do?
Moetechi is an old card, printed before the current rules for costs and effects were hammered out. Bowing Moetechi is a cost. Losing honor is an effect.
Agasha Chieh vs. Hitomi Dojo
Both say "as if...", but Agasha Chieh has been ruled to be "in the army/at the battle" for all purposes including for the purposes of Isawa House Guard while I understand that Hitomi Dojo has been ruled to not make the personality a Monk for any purpose beyond the abiltiy to cast the kiho.
If you could cite some specific example, I might be able to be of more help.
Both effects last while the caster is casting. Once that is done, he or she is back as she was.
If "as if" makes Chieh be in the battle while her spell is resolving, why would Hitomi Dojo not make the personality a Monk while the Kiho is resolving?
I don't see why it wouldn't. Again, could you give me some specifics?
Question
If you have 2 personalities face up on Plains of Otosan Uchi and the provience is destroyed in a battle and you play Fires in the Hidden City, do both personalities come into play?
Fire in the Hidden City refers to the Personality it brings into play in a singular fashion, not plural. You must choose and target the one personality you wish to bring into play.
Temple of Hoshi meets Strength From Weakness
Here's a hypothetical situation between a bowed Mirumoto Gonkuro (Yay!!) and a bowed Tsuruchi Nobumoto (Boo!!). Gonkuro casts Strength From Weakness thanks to the Temple. Does Nobumoto straighten as well? I ask because I can think of 2 outcomes:
Nobumoto does not unbow. Gonkuro is a Monk for the entire time of Casting the Kiho. Casting goes on all the way through resolving all immediate effects of the Action, so this includes the time where you would have to unbow Nobumoto if Gonkuro was not a Monk.
"Casting" lasts until the last immediate effect concludes, and has done so since 1997 when Dave Williams ruled that Chi Bonuses for / while casting remained through the Duel generated by the Kiho "Facing Your Devils" - which remains on record in the Accumulated Rulings.
Rules - Keen Eye vs Same Old Tricks
I was just wondering about the interaction between these two cards.
Namely whether or not Keen Eye will cancel Same Old Tricks if the second or subsequent action being cancelled is one which would issue a challenge.
I suspect that as the action has not yet issued a challenge Keen Eye cannot be used, but I would appreciate clarification on this point.
Same Old Tricks is played before any effects of the Action in question are resolved, hence the Action being canceled can't have possibly created a Challenge yet, so there is no opportunity to play Keen Eye.
That should cover everything from Wednesday, October 20, 2004. If I missed your question unrelated to Dawn of the Empire, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of a Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
