Shi-Tien Yen-Wang Temple’ s Reaction

I want to understand how Shi-Tien Yen-Wang Temple’s Reaction happens.

As Jeff noted, it would have been easier to explain had the Reaction been timed "after" rather than "before" targeting. Regardless, the end result is the same.

1.) The player announced Kolat Assassin. 2.) The player nominates your Personality to be the target of Kolat Assassin. - You React, "Before" he is considered targeted by Kolat Assassin, by giving him +1/+1 with the Temple. (Before) - The Personality is now considered "targeted" with the Temple (the other player doesn't get to remake his choice). (When( - You can now take "after" targeting Reactions (like Balance in Nothingness). (After) 3.) The player must pay the cost of Kolat Assassin (10 Gold) 4.) The player goes to resolve the effect of Kolat Assassin, but the effect is Negated because the Personality had 5 Chi before any effects of Kolat Assassin resolved.

Time on Storm Heart and Yokutsu no shriyo

In a Storm Heart between my lion personality who is double chi( from the kiho, built in , or someother reason) and some one else. My lion wins the duel with say 30 personal honor. He becomes dishonored because of storm heart I react with Yokutsu no shiryo to have him commit seppuku and gain his personal honor since the duel hasn't completely resolved I would gain 30 honor, since he still has the bonus from the focusing.

That's perfectly fine. The Stat-bonus lasts until the end of the duel, and Storm Heart dishonors the winner during Duel Resolution while Yokutsu happens "before" the dishonoring effect.

Divide and Conquer [Rules]

Delayed Terrain Battle: Send home a number of opposing units less than or equal to the number of players who control opposing units.

Does it mean I can send home 0 to 2 units if I control a unit and my opponent controls a unit in the same battle, or does it mean I can only send home 0 to 1 units because I only have one opponent (unlike multiplayer where I could theoretically any number of opponents in a battle).

The card is giving instructions to - you -, the player. "Opposing units," are assessed in relation to - you -. You can send a number of units home up to the number of individual players who control cards opposing cards that you control in this battle.

In a 2-player game, you'll normally only send up to 1 unit home. In multi-player, you could send more home under the right circumstances.

Tadaji Sensei and Kaede's Fan[Rules]

Will Kaede's Fan double the honor gain from Tadaji Sensei?

"Increase by 1 all Honor gains created by actions this Personality performs, by duels this Personality wins, and by battles won or tied by this Personality's army."

The honor gain from Tadaji Sensei is created by an Action, and it is an Action that the Personality can not and does not perform. Nor will it increase the 2 honor gain per destroyed card from Field of Glorious Slaughter. The fact that you can only use Tadaji in response to a won battle and that battle resolution caused all those triggers to Field of Glorious slaughter are both irrelevant.

In the same respect, Kaede's fan will increase the honor gain from Iaijutsu Challenge from 5 to 6, but not the honor gain of Blade of Penance's Trait or Omoidasu's Reaction (performed by Omoidasu, not the Personality with the fan).

That should cover everything for Friday, September 10, 2004. If I missed your question that was not related to "Dawn of the Empire," please repost it with [RULES] as part of your distinct and clear subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
