leaving play to negate effects
so, since leaving play cancels any remaining effects,
No. Leaving play can often make a card an illegal Target for an Action after it was already targeted. When a legal target becomes an illegal target for any reason, the targeting Action fails to produce any further effects on that target.
i'm forced to assume that if i use Sunda Mizu Dojo on a personality with 0 force, they will be honorably dead (assuming they were honorable to begin with). since they die as soon as the first step in the Dojo's action, they would be out of play before any of it's other effects would take place.
That's correct. The victim will die before the Action produces its next effects. That means there will be no Challenge restrictions or Dishonor going on.
Odd Chi death question.
Got to wondering about Hantei the 39th. If his massive 10 chi got lowered by 9 [Doom of Fu Leng], then an opponent played Shukumei and targeted him, which would kill him, only he says he does not bie, but returns to your fief bowed, what happens then? He still has 0 Chi, so he dies again, but his trait says he goes to your fief bowed. Seems like an infinite loop, so does he essentially just become bowed, and continue with the game? Or am I missing something?
Jeff's already been there, done that, and bought the T-Shirt.
"If he is reduced to 0 Chi, he remains bowed in your fief. [JA, 15 October 2002]" (Accumulated Rulings, "Hantei the 39th")
Rules question
I thought this up, and am having some trouble with it. I have Agasha Seruma cast Heart of Bushido on Shiba Tsukimi, giving Tsukimi +1/+1, and Tactician. My opponent later draws Ryoshun's Gift and destroys the Heart of Bushido. Would the Spell's effects end?
Destroying the source of the Action will not automatically stop the Action itself. Once you've cast the spell, all the text after the word "Limited" is in effect regardless of the status of the Spell Card itself.
B} No. You fulfilled the action of casting the spell. It gave a force and chi bonus, gave a trait, and gave the casting shugenja a trait [may remain bowed], and listed the time limit [While this shugenja remains bowed and in play] on it. Until that time limit is broken, the spells being in play does not matter.
Well, not so much the "may remain bowed" trait, so much as there is an on-going effect that says the shugenja can stay bowed. That's a nit-picky sort of difference, but it couldn't be stopped by something that merely removed a trait.
2 questions
1 - Does the personality targeted by the Right Hand "perform" the political (re)action ?
No Personality is targeted by the Political Reaction. You target an Effect, which is Negated. It does nothing to the Personality, but rather stops something else for affecting the Personality.
2 - Can I play the Yumi of Fire as a battle action if there is only one target for my ranged attack (assuming this target is weak enough to die due to the first ranged attack) ?
Yes, for two reasons.
A.) You can drop the Yumi and opt to not use the Ability. It says, "you may immediately gain an additional Battle action to use the following ability" - operative word there is "may."
B.) Consecutive Ranged Attacks are targeted one-at-a-time. (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 98) To take an Action that produces Consecutive Ranged Attacks, you need only have a legal target for the FIRST of the Consecutive RA.
That looks like everything from Thursday. If I missed your question, please repost it with a clear subject line including the flag [RULES].
