Razor's Edge Dojo & effects from actions
I play a card that doesn't target in the "Targeting step" (before costs are paid) but its effects force me to target another player's Personality. Against a Razor's Crab Personality, have I to discard a card because of Razor's trait?
When you choose the target, you'll have to discard. It doesn't particularly matter when that happens.
First example: Ambush vs. Sozen (Razor's Stronghold) Ambush doesn't target Sozen in the "Targeting step", but I assign Sozen to defend. Have I to discard a card, or not?
It targets Sozen when it makes him assign. You have to discard.
Surprisingly, due to Ambush's wording, that would be targeting him during the Attack Phase, not the Action Phase. You would not have to discard any additional cards to target Sozen during the ensuing Battle Action Segment.
If Ambush was your first Action during the Action Phase, after it resolved you still haven't targeted anyone during your Action Phase yet. So, if you next played "Kolat Assassin" you'd have to discard a card to Razor's Edge Dojo for the Action Phase.
Second example: Kuro's Fire vs. Sozen (Razor's Stronghold) I don't target any opposing Personality before I have to pay the bowing Shugenja cost. Then, all the Ranged Attacks are in the "Effects step" (after costs are paid). I make a ranged attack from Kuro's Fire against Sozen. Have I to discard a card, or not?
You still have to choose targets for the Ranged Attacks, regardless of whether the choice is made earlier or later. You are still targeting with the Action, since those those targeted effects are part of the Action. You'll still have to discard when you choose the target for the first Ranged Attack Kuro's Fire produces.
Failure of Duty question
If the defending Personality is bowed and in the losing Army, does she become dishonored before or after dying during Resolution?
The personality is dishonored at the beginning of the Resolution Segment, well before armies are destroyed.
Similarly, if the defending Personality is bowed and in the winning Army, does she get dishonored during or after Resolution? Can she rehonor herself?
Again, since the dishonoring happens at the beginning of the Resolution Segment, he she will be dishonored when the honor gain for destroying cards is tallied. She'll negate the gain and become rehonored.
Cost of moneylender
According to the archive, the number of tokens gained by Moneylender is determined by the gold spent on it, ignoring cost reductions. Is it correct to imply that increasing the cost of Moneylender likewise does not alter its token trait? For example, if I fetch Moneylender with A New Wall, which raises its cost by one, can I still bring it into play for free and give it no tokens, since the Moneylender's trait takes precedence?
Moneylender's trait will not take precedence over A New Wall. A New Wall will force you to pay at least 1 gold for Monkeylender.
Gaining the tokens when you first bring Moneylender into play has no cost. It is a triggered effect. Whatever the amount of gold you paid for Moneylender, that the number of tokens that get put on him.
Dark Rings, Introspection and Rhetoric
When does the honor loss for playing a Dark Ring occur? Does it occur before I get to play Introspection, or do I get to Introspection before the honor loss?
You'll lose the honor first. Introspection happens "after" by card text.
Three questions
1) Can the cost discount of Secluded Outpost be combined if you use multiple ones to buy a Samurai or Bushi?
No, they are both separate effects. You either use that one effect to attach a follower at reduced cost, or you don't use it at all.
2) Assuming he has some way to cast Kihos in general, can Hida Soh ever cast a Limited Kiho?
Plans within Plans, maybe? Leon's better at this game than I am.
3) if someone is casting a Kiho "as a Shugenja," are their printed abilities considered to be "innate abilities" if the Kiho should care about such things?
Yes. Consider them to have the "Shugenja" trait for the duration of casting the Kiho.
Ratling Village Q
If I use Ratling Village to bring out a Ratling Personality, and decide to attach Chitachikkan to him, does it get destroyed during that same turn's End Phase, or next one?
The same one. Don't bring him out via Ratling Village unless you happen to be coming, "From Nowhere."
That looks like everything from May 6th that wasn't answer in-thread. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line.
