Rules Question, Well Prepared and Terrains again
Would Come One at a TIme, Volcanic Fields, and A Fallen Friend still work if they are bowed. If the answer is yes, I promise I won't ask anymore.:)
Yes, they all work. None those terrains have activated abilities. They have traits that create effects. Some make players destroy cards (like Volcanic Fields). Some make players bow cards (a fallen friend). Some grant Personalities and Players extra abilities (like Come One At A Time). None of these will be "turned off" by bowing the Terrain.
Sepent Scimitar, I attach the sepent scimitar in a battle in which my unit is opposed (va chagatai, shogun's barraks, well armed etc) Since attaching the card is a force bonus, and doesn't kick in untill it's attached wouldn't it also recieve the +1f bonus granted by the scimitar as well?
That makes perfect sense to me.
If this is done to Moto Gurban, she would likewise gain +1 for having a weapon and then an addtional +1f due to recieiving a force bonus being opposed correct?
Sounds good to me. Going from 3F to 10F for attaching one little item sounds like good beats.
Moto Gurban, if she has 0 personal honor before she triggers her ability does she commit seppuku? The card reads if her *new* personal honor is 0, she commits seppuku. If she was dishonored or has a 0 PH before she triggers her ability wouldn't there be no in her personal honor thus no "new" PH or 0.
"New" won't require an actual change in the current value. It just distinguishes the time of reference. That's all. Think of it as a freshly-minted "zero" if you want to, but if you bring Platonic Forms into this discussion, I'm setting the flying monkeys on you ...
Temple of the 9th, I use my stronghold ability to target one of my opponents bowed personalities. Since bowed personalities cannot issue challenges are they dishonored automatcially, correct?
No. The rulebook says that the bowed Personalities may not "perform actions that issue challenges." If your opponent is the controller of the Action (in the case of Temple of the Ninth Kami) then your Personality isn't Performing the Action, and may therefor issue the challenge.
Agasha Chieh Revisited
Can Shugenja in the battle and at Chieh's location participate in the ritual she is casting?
I think I want to ask Jeff about this one. This could possibly let Chieh xp. permit other shugenja not in the army to participate in a Battle Ritual.
Senpet Scimitar
I then choose to attach a Senpet Scimitar to Chagatai from my hand as a Battle action. What happens?
Still waiting on a final confirmation on this from Jeff.
Utaku Jamaira [RULES]
I have a question about the intent of Jamaira. If my opponent has Doji Kurohito in play, is Jamaira's Honor Requirement -1 and her Gold Cost 4. Should there be a clause referring to "your Personalities" or "sharing a Faction alignment with Jamaira".
Not that I can see. I says specifically both "in play" instead of "yours" and "a Faction alignment" instead of "Unicorn Clan" or whatever. Seems very clear.
OK, that looks like it covers everything that wasn't addressed in-thread for Tuesday, May 4, 2004. If your question was overlook, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
Thank you, - Marty Lund Deputy Rules Monkey
(What do you mean we don't HAVE flying monkeys to sick on him!?!? ... That's just GREAT; last week Ray nixed my idea for the pit full of hungry alligators and now THIS. How do these expect me to do my job under these conditions?)
