Fall on Your Knees Clarification
Okay, I've been told and I would agree with the fact that the following two things can't be done with FOYK. Can somebody please clarify?
Fall on Your Knees says, "Reaction: Cancel a Reaction during a Battle Action Segment."
1. I declare my intention to attack, and in reaction my opponent plays an Outmaneuvered in Court. Can I Fall on Your Knees this? I don't think I can, since its not a battle action segment, but the declaration of battle.
The Diamond Edition Rulebook clearly outlines the separate Segments of the Attack Phase. Outmaneuvered In Court has to be played - well - before the Battle Action Segment. You haven't even completed Infantry Maneuvers or Cavalry Maneuvers yet.
If it isn't the Battle Action Segment, you can't play Fall on Your Knees. (card text)
2. My opponent loses a Crab personality and then reacts with Kisada's Shrine to prevent him from dying... can I FOYK this? Again, I don't think I can, since its after the battle has resolved.
You can play Fall on Your Knees vs. Kisada's Shrine, but again, only during the Battle Action Segment. If the destruction occurred during say, the Battle Resolution Segment, you couldn't play Fall on Your Knees.
Monks, Hats, and the Swiss.
Hitomi Daisetsu, with Reichin's Helm attached, casts Chasing Osano-Wo on himself.
I *think* the timing is: Bow, Reichin's Trait, Chasing's Effects; so Daisetsu is 2F Base, +1F Reichin (printed), +1F Reichin's Trait, +6F Chasing (Daisetsu's 4F + 2PH).
Yup. Reichin's Helm triggers after all costs are paid and targets chosen, but before any Effects are produced.
This would also mean that you need to add an extra point to Kuro's Fire, as RH would boost his force by one after you cast KF, but before the RAs resolved. Also, RH gains a bonus once for KF, *not* once per RA generated, as the boost is for casting a spell, not generating a spell effect, yes?
Yes. It says, "is cast."
Imagine how sick Reichin's would be if it got larger by each produced Effect of the spell and you had it on the Caster of Kuro's Fire? Yick!
Questions
1. If you Feign Death your Hiruma Ashihei, do you lose the 2 honor still, or does his trait preven that as well as the dishonoring?
It Cancels the Action the minute it tries to Dishonor him. Any unproduced effects simply aren't generated. Since lose 2 Honor is the last effect in the sequence, it wouldn't occur.
2. How many times can you Retirbution/Counterattack when you've been attacked? Someone said if you had three copies of either in your hand at the time, you can do it three times.
You can keep playing Reactions to that trigger until each player consecutively passes. The means each time you finish resolving a Counter Attack or a Retribution, you're left with the original window for playing Reactions. You could conceivably play 3 Counter Attacks and 3 Retributions one at a time in response to the same Attack. Good luck having enough unbowed units to make those all useful, though.
1) Is Glassblower still a gold producing Holding if it has no tokens?
Is Simple Huts a gold producing Holding if you control no farms? The answer to both is "yes." It can produce gold using only its own abilities, so it is a Gold Producing Holding. Just because it is unable to use that ability currently doesn't change its status as a Gold Producing Holding. Otherwise, any holding that bowed to produce gold would no longer be a G.P.H. while bowed, and that way leads us to madness, I tell you, madness!
2) Can you remove tokens from Glassblower if it is bowed?
Not by its Reaction, anyway. Glassblower doesn't have any text exempting it from the standard rule that you can't play an Action on a bowed card.
3) Is Glassblower a gold producing Holding if it has tokens, but you don't remove any?
It is a Gold Producing Holding for its entire existence, unless you find some elaborate means of removing the Reaction Ability from the card itself.
Unrequited Love and Fires of Dishonor
I first asked this question about two months ago, and I don't think it received an answer.
I believe Jeff responded that he was forwarding this to the rules team.
Haven't heard back about it yet. I guess I could poke him with a stick, send a dozen pizzas to his house, or find some other way to annoy him. It would provide me with an amusing diversion, but I don't know if it would get you your answer any quicker. ;-)
Seriously though, I'll nose around and see if there's been any headway to report on this.
Alright, that looks like everything for 20 April 2004. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line.
Thanks folks,
