Your Rules for Wednesday, April 21, 2004
rage and sup Strat
Looking at the wording of Rage and Superior Strategist can either card be used to fetch and play terrains or formations?
Yes. Both card types play as Battle Actions, just special kinds of Battle Actions (they stay in play, get destroyed, and other fun and weird stuff).
Wedge and Right Hand of the Emperor
So, true or false, for Archive purposes.
The Right Hand of the Emperor can negate the movement of a unit which has been targeted by Wedge.
True. The Reaction on Right Hand of the Emperor can Negate a movement Effect which would've moved a Unit targeted by Wedge.
Entrench and Kaiu Castle
Anyway:
can Entrench be used on opponent's turn to get Kaiu Castle? If so, I assume it still costs zero due to the SHold right?
Entrench has two abilities:
"Battle: Get a non-Unique Fortification from your Dynasty deck. Pay all costs for bringing the Fortification into play. Attach the Fortification to this province. Shuffle the deck."
"Open: Get a non-Unique Fortification from your Dynasty deck. Pay the Fortification's Gold cost; the Fortification costs 3 more Gold. Attach the Fortification to one of your Provinces. Shuffle the deck."
Um, isn't Kaiu Castle a Region? You can't entrench for Regions. Am I missing something here?

Question
Does Shrine of Duty target the 2+ Samurai/Bushi that you need to have attacked with?
No. The two samurai / bushi thing is just a legal play qualification. You don't go anything to the Personalities, nor have to choose them in any way and they don't even have to be alive anymore. You simply had enough, or you didn't.
Ring of water Questions
I was at a tournament, and was told that Jeff made a ruling that playing superior strategist, and the card that you fetch with superior strategist is counted as one battle action for the Ring of Water.
Um ... I don't see how one could reach that conclusion. Superior Strategist says, "Tactical Battle: Search your Fate deck for an Action card with a Battle or Open action. If you find a card, gain an additional action after this one and play that card for a Battle or Open action."
How is that not 2 Battle Actions? Superior Strategist IS a Battle Action, and they it gives you an additional Action to play another Battle or Open Action. Assuming the Action you get is a Battle Action, rather than an Open Action, you're half-way to Ring of Water.
Heck, if you had 3 Tacticians, with 1 Sup-Strat in hand and 2 in your deck, you could chain Sup-Strat, Sup-Strat, Sup-Strat, Random Battle Action, Ring of Water just like that.
Silence the Future
I challenged my opponent with Test of Might.
Will the printed force will still be compared even if we both focused?
Well, assuming no one has less Force than their printed force, sure. Silence the Future puts the maximum for Force equal to printed. There may be people with less Force than printed at the beginning of the duel, and they could benefit from focusing up to the point where their Force caps out.
OK, that's all there is for 21 April 2004. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line.
