Ashura + Overwhelmed
If I destory Ashura to pay the cost of Overwhelmed, which effect occurs first?
You have to pay the costs and resolve anything triggering off such payments before you ever get to the effects of the Action you paid for.
You destroy Ashura to pay the cost of Overwhelmed. Resolve the triggered effect of Ashura's destruction before moving on to resolving the effects of Overwhelmed.
Hidden City card question Shameless Slander
Shameless Slander reads:
Political Open: During the Action Phase, target one of your unbowed Courtiers and a face-up Personality with higher Personal Honor in a Province. Until the end of the turn, the target Personality enters play Dishonored,
Ok..since the honor gain from a personality occurs BEFORE he enters play for being paid for in full, what happens when a personality comes into play at full cost under this card?
'(The Personal Honor of a Personality who "enters play dishonored" is 0 for this purpose.)' (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 59, "Personalities")
Question
Can Fall On Your Knees cancel a Sneak Attack?
Yes. Sneak Attack is a Reaction played during the Battle Action Segment.
Wedge, Overconfidence, Armed and Ready
Lets say you Wedge one of your guys with a weapon or armor attached. At the beginning of resolution, they play a overconfidence in reaction to the doubling of force. Can you then play an armed in ready to straighten that guy (along with all the other people with weapon or armor)? So basically is the armed and ready a blanketing effect that doesnt target (since it says all), or does the specifying of your people and only the ones with weapons or armor, make it targeted?
"If no player, under any circumstance, has to choose what gets affected, the action is not targeted." (L5R FAQ, Section 2, "Clarifying the Rules")
It shouldn't target. No one gets to choose what it affects, ever, unless I'm missing something here.
Wedge, Overconfidence, Armed and Ready
I am unsure of whether or not there are timing issues involved in this. It will all depend on WHEN Wedge gives out the force bonus and the exact timing on Armed and Ready
I'm going to give this a bit further thought. "Active Player chooses" doesn't seem like a snug fit here. Delayed triggered effects of Actions is a bit sticky and I want to get this done cleanly. Give me another day or so to run what I'm thinking through a little Archive Research and probably Jeff himself and I'll get back to you.
Shiba Aikune
Shiba Aikune exp2 has the text: Open: Once per turn, target any number of your Shugenja to raise Aikune's Force and lower his Chi, or to raise his Chi and lower his Force, by that number.
Question is, is it possible to reduce his force/chi below their minimum?
It is possible to create a penalty greater than the current value of Aikune's stat, yes. The penalty is an effect, not a cost.
The minimum will still be imposed after all the bonuses and penalties have been counted up, however.
Ie, if you have 10 shugenja in play, can you raise his chi to 15 and his force to -6 (flooring at 0)?
Yes.
If you have 10 shugenja and the emerald armor on him, can you raise his force to 14 and his chi to -5(flooring at 1)?
Yes.
As it's worded, the lowering is an effect, not a cost, so flooring it doesn't seem to stop the other effect, and the number for both of the effects is reliant on the number of shugenja rather than the lowering of the one stat. Am I correct in this analysis?
Yes. You've got it nailed down.
OK, that's everything. If I missed your question, please reposted it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get to it at the first opportunity.
Thanks,
