Question Rule: Naval Invasion, No Hiding Place & FoYK
I attack with Nobumoto to Province A. Seruma stay at the fief.
I declare Naval Invasion, use the Battle of Nobumoto and Reaction with No Hiding Place, trying to kill Seruma.
Q: Could the Phoenix player cancel No Hiding Place with Fall on Your Knees?
This looks like it's already been covered. The short answer is "no".
In Search Of the Future
What are considered bonuses? (For the purposes of this card, and in general)
Anything new effect that makes the card's Force a larger number [DE p. 62] or that explicitly calls itself a "bonus" in its own text [Cardinal Rule #1, p. 34] Altering an existing effect, such as by changing the amount or making it end, is not a bonus or penalty.
Weapons? Tokens (such as that on some Oni characters)? The Shadowlands stronghold? Moshi Ehime's text? so on and so forth.
These all provide bonuses.
Tsuruchi Nobomuto XP and The Deathless
How will The Deathless work when it is attached to Tsuruchi Nobomuto experienced, and he uses his trait? There are several points of view on our local list, and they all seem to have merit.
Every time The Deathless's Personality gains or loses the Naval trait from other effects, The Deathless re-evaluates whether it needs to provide the trait itself. Nobumoto Exp. would gain Cavalry and lose Naval, then The Deathless becomes +0F and gives him Naval.
Questions on multiple traits and cards that grant/remove them.
Tacticain has command staff, an action removes the tactician trait from the tactician.
Does Command staff reapply it.
No. The last effect is the one that matters.
Undead has the shadowlands trait, an action removes teh shadowalnds trait from the undead card.
Does the rulebook reapply it.
No.
A navel personality has Deathless, that personality loses the navel trait through an action.
Does deathless reapply it.
Yes. The Deathless is sensitive to which effect it needs to generate, so when it switches which benefit it provides, it becomes the last effect.
If yes to any of these.
Can a card have the same trait twice?
No.
If you have a trait twice can you use it twice?
No.
Daimyos...
If a pep is targeted by New Emerald Champion she can benefit from the action The Emperor Returns?
Yes.
RES: [L5R-CCG] Daimyos...
So what happens in an instance like nobumoto and ichiro? Can you still use the emperor returns with ichiro. Can you not use it at all or just when nobumoto exp is in play? or doesnt it matter?
You go by what's on the card. The Experienced Nobumoto has the "Daimyo" trait. The base version does not. The base version would not count towards the Emperor Returns' bonus.
peasent vengence and the mountain doesnt move
as a fun thing to do with my ratling deck, i have started a peasent vengence counter. that means that i have sucessfully killed 12 clan champions and 2 dragons with ratling village tokens and 1 courier and the peasent vengance card. the other night, i was playing against a crab deck and pv'd the clan champ. he mountained didnt moved so that the champ could stay in the battle. my question is does it count as having been killed by peasent vengance or killed by the mountain doesnt move?
"Reaction: Play before one of your Personalities with the Yu trait is destroyed...to negate the destruction.... Destroy the Personality at the end of the turn."
Peasant Vengeance's destruction was stopped. The Mountain did the killing.
Nobumoto + The Right Hand question
Can Tsuruchi Nobumoto use his Ranged Attack and then when he is moving out of the battle can the Right Hand of the Emperor be used to negate his movement?
Yes. Sending a unit home is movement.
Abilities on Strongholds
Someone was telling me you can't use the abilities on your strongholds when bowed even if the wording is passive and doesn't state that "may perform this even when bowed." Is this correct?
I don't know what you mean by "the wording is passive".
I can see the ones that require it to bow, but lets say the crane holding where it has reaction bow one of your samuri and move them into the duel when one of your personalities enters a challenge. If my stronghold is bowed do I still get to do that?
No. That is an action of your Stronghold -- it starts with one of the four action type keywords. Since it's not one of the two exceptions, it can't be used while the Stronghold is bowed.
What about the rats and their one that all ratlings gain the ability: bow and destroy this card to destroy an opposing follower?
That ability is still available. It is not an action of your Stronghold. It is an action given to your Personalities by a trait on your Stronghold.
Akodo Dojo / Shinden Horiuchi
Just a quick question, when using Akodo Dojo to purchase Items for Shinden Horiuchi, does it produce 3, because the action of attaching the item creates a follower token.
The Reaction on Shinden Horiuchi is the action that produces a Follower token. If that were to somehow gain a Gold cost, Akodo Dojo could pay 3 Gold towards it.
Playing an Item from your hand doesn't create a Follower token.
dueling and other effects
How long do chi force and Ph bonuses apply from duels from focusing? How about cards like Kakita dojo, Shosuro Tek, the new Crane Shugenja/Courtier, Private Dojo
From the FAQ at http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/ccg/faq.html :
Q: How long do effects last?
A: Being dishonored lasts forever. Tokens last forever. "Swearing fealty" lasts forever. Focusing in a duel lasts until the duel ends. Effects of Immediate Terrains last only while the Terrain is in play. Effects that last until a certain card straightens also end if it leaves play. All other effects, including those of Delayed Terrains, normally last until the end of the turn they happened in. This applies to all effects, not just stat bonuses.
Also, remember that effects on a card don't end early if the card leaves play. For example, a Personality who died because her Chi was reduced to 0 still has 0 Chi in the discard pile, and if she is returned to play before her Chi penalties wear off, she will immediately die again.
Kaiu Sensei and Connecting Walls
Hi, if you are playing with Kaiu Sensei and Connecting Walls, what is the total bonus to each of your 4 provinces during battle?
My guess is +4/+6/+6/+4 for one Connecting Walls. Correct?
Yes.
How about with two Connecting Walls in play (and the Sensei of course)?
Double that.
Iuchiban, Egg of P'an Ku and Spawning Grounds
Hi all
Player A is playing The Spawning Grounds and has a Iuchiban in play. Iuchiban is 7/7 due to the Spawning Ground effect Player B is playing The Spawning Grounds and plays Egg of P'an Ku on his opponent's Iuchiban.
IS the new Iuchiban: a-7/7 cause the +1/+1 bonus from The Spawning Grounds is a permanent one b-6/6 cause the +1/+1 bonus from The Spawning Grounds is not a permanent one c-7/7 because of b and because player B is playing The Spawning Grounds as his Stronghold d-8/8 because of a and because player B is playing The Spawning Grounds as his Stronghold
c.
The Spawning Grounds bonus is not permanent. Its duration is, effectively, "while the card is owned by you and has the Oni, Ogre, or Troll trait".
