Formation question
I have been reading the forums at Tsuruchi.com and have a question:
Can a personality satisy more than one of the requirements, i.e., Hakumei or Shosuro Toson meeting the requirement of both a Samurai and a Ninja for the purposes of playing "Kiss of the Scorpion", etc.?
No.
Question abut soshi tabito and imperial favor lobby
Hi, Can 2 or 3 soshi tabito (from same player) react at the same time as a player loses honor?
Yes.
There wasnt an rulling saying that a given reaction can only be used once except in the case of its being canceled?
The rule from the rulebook is that each *printed* appearance of a Reaction can be used once per trigger. If the same reaction appears on multiple cards, you may use each of them once. They are all printed in different places.
You can lobby for the imperial favor with an equal amount of family honor?
No.
Ps: Sorry for the crappy english its not my first language...
Just don't use offensive language and you'll be fine.
Question abut soshi tabito and imperial favor lobby version=2.63
But if a have 3 Talented Apprentice in play and then put a spell in play all 3 of them will make permanently 1 more gold??
If you react with all of them, yes.
This can be used with action cards too? If my personality dies in a battle can I use 3 Be Prepared to Dig Two Graves on different personalities? And on the same case, can I target all 3 reactions on the same personality?
Yes and yes.
Question For Jeff A.
I. Chal. and Blade of Penance? Which honor gain resolves first that rehonors the peep?
The Blade. Outside effects and reactions triggered by winning or losing a duel occur before the results of the duel itself.
Rules question: A New Guardian
The general question is: what happens if I play more than one A New Guardian?
You get the separate extra 2-point Honor gains from the card. You only get the original re-honoring gain once.
A dishonored personality wins an Iaijutsu Challenge, and I play 3x A New Guardian. Clearly, the personality is rehonored, and I gain 6 honor, 2 from each A New Guardian. However, how should we interpret "You receive the gain"? Do I gain a total of 5 or 15 from the Challenge itself?
5.
Mushin
Can a shugenja attach more than one copy of the same spell? If so, can the shugenja cast each copy separately?
Yes and yes.
Plains of Otosan Uchi
I have several questions concerning Plains of Otosan Uchi.
1st, It holds two dynasty cards, is one of them considered to the left of another?
No.
2nd, When revealing dynasty cards during your events phase, are the two cards in the Plains revealed simultaneously, or one after the other?
"You control the order in which they are revealed and refilled." [card text]
Finally, Lets say Regions of Rokugan is revealed in one of my provinces. I search through my deck for Plains of Otosan Uchi and attach it to the province Regions is being held in. I then put the second dynasty card into the same province. Regions finishes resolving and I discard it. Do I get to reveal the second dynasty card that is in the plains?
If you want.
Further Seppun Sensei questions
After a brief debate with a fellow player on this issue, I decided to ask for clarification on the following issues as well. Thanks for the previous replies.
Can a player who has Seppun Sensei in play take the action of Kitsuki Mizuochi Exp. when it is known that the top card of a deck is a Kolat/Ninja/Assassin card?
If the top card is face-up and visible to all players, Mizuochi can't be used. He can be used if the top card is face-down, even if every player saw it earlier and it hasn't moved.
Does the Sensei only affect whether an action could be taken or does it also influence the effects generated by the action?
"You cannot take actions that would cause Honor losses for other players. Your Honor losses and gains cannot be changed, redirected, or copied." [card text]
The former.
E.g.: A Personality whose player has a Seppun Sensei in play issues an Iaijutsu Challenge to another personality. She refuses. Will her player lose 7 Honor or would the Sensei prevent it somehow (cancelling the action, negating the Honor loss etc.)?
The challenged Personality's player will lose 7 Honor.
Rethoric and Shadowlands
We had some discussion about Rethoric and Shadowlands players. In an
You may redirect Honor gains and losses TO a player who can neither gain nor lose Honor. The gain or loss will disappear and cannot be further modified.
Actually I can't understand that ruling. Since DE Rulebook says:
You can redirect an action or effect only to something else it could have targeted originally [p. 74]
and:
You cannot announce a targeted action if a legal target does not exist [p. 71],
there is a contradiction in my humble opinion. Any honorlosses by a player who can't lose honor are negated if they are effects - any costs that require losing honor can't be paid.
If I lose honor and want to redirect that, a Shadowlands player wouldn't be a legal target, since he simply can't lose it.
Can you please explain that ruling.
All players are valid "targets" for Honor losses and gains. Honestly, it comes down to terminology. The word "redirect" is somewhat inappropriate when it comes to Honor gains and losses. Most of them aren't targeted in the first place. A very strict enforcement of the glossary would result in cards like Rhetoric being virtually unplayable. However, we've had no problems with players misunderstanding the term due to its overloaded use, so we haven't assigned a new term like "channel" or "shunt" instead.
Rules Question (JEFF)
Another random question for you, if I play Control the Field to destroy a terrain & play a new terrain does the new terrain count as a separate battle action for Ring of Water or is playing the new terrain considered to be part of Control the Field?
It's a part of Control the Field.
Strategic Crossroads/Ambush
Honestly, I don't see how moving Personalities who aren't originally part of an Ambush into one, regardless of whether it comes from Strategic Crossroads or any other card 'in the battle', meets relevance DESPITE the action coming from a card or token at the battle based on two past rulings - one on stalling and another on relevance with Tireless Assault:
1) An old, somewhat unrelated, ruling dealing with Dark Path of Shadow vs Armor of Earth and stalling.
We, as players, know we can't send the unit home using DPoS because Armor of Earth will just cancel it. Thus it was decided the DPoS player was stalling if they kept trying to send the Armor of Earth unit home. Couldn't that very logic cross over in any action trying to move a Personality into an Ambush if it is illegal to do so?
He's not stalling because he's not trying to do something an infinite number of times to make the game run out of time before it finishes.
2) Wasn't it ruled a failure to meet the Rule of Relevance to use any action that would move someone who cannot attack/defend into the appropriate army, such as Matsu Domotai? I runderstand that this ruling was made specificly on Tireless Assault (though Carrier Pigeon and a few other cards could also come-to-mind), but why wouldn't it logicly carry over to other, similar, instances - regardless of the source?
It doesn't carry over "regardless of the source" because an action is Relevant if it's on a card in the current battle even if it doesn't target or affect anything there.
Question
Okay, question is when a Tch'Tch warrens deck plays a battle action stolen from the opponent (being a Kyuden Ikoma player) and the action is canceled by the stronghold is the card removed from play totally or does it go back to the Tch'Tch player's hand?
Removed from the game when it's canceled. [Tch'tch text] Then it can't come back. [DE p. 103]
