Greetings,

Rules for 18 December 2003

if you negate an attachment action as opposed to cancelling it, do you return the attaching card to your hand?

Same answer. These questions and many others are answered in the Diamond rules, pg. 72.

Coincedentally I checked the rulebook PDF page 72. No mention was made of negation as opposed to cancellation and as Jeff has to keep explaining they are different things. So in this case they are exactly the same thing?

The rulebook uses the generic term "prevent" with regards to costs, which includes both situations.

Rules Question

I assume that if I have a decoy attached to a personality in a losing battle that during resolution both die simultaneously. So can I use decoy to save my personality from death in a battle?

Yes ("before" - Decoy text).

If I shield of blood a personality and they die in battle as the attacker, can I bow them to save them? Does this also save the followers?

Yes. No.

Rules on Provinces and Battles

So, Spirit Drums can be used to move a unit from where ever into the current battle regardless of where the unit with Spirit Drums is?

No. Spirit Drums cannot be used from home ("into this Province"), for instance.

I.E. in a battle in which you have no units you can use the Spirit Drums to move into that battle?

No.

Chuda agent vs uncertainty

if i used uncertainty on one of my personality , (example : koto ) can i use all my chuda agent on koto to produce 3 Gold each??

No.

Hero's Grave and Northern Province of the Moto

is bowing the NPotM for the 7 Gold for a Follower an ability of the stronghold, or is it the gold producing action for the turn.

If it was an action or ability, it would say, "Limietd," "Open," "Battle," or "Reaction."

Imperial Levying Question

My turn starts. I have no personalities in play. All of my opponent's personalities are bowed. I reveal Imperial Levying. Since IL checks unit force, are all his units destroyed? And if so, does he get zero honor because that's the combined force of the units?

Yes. Yes.

Rule dispute Jeff can you answer

Our dispute was about choice and cancellation of actions, and if making a choice is action.

It's only an action if it says, "Limited," "Open," "Battle," or "Reaction" (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/#Decision).

If some one targets him with a Iaijutsu Challenge can he refuse, and if he does what happens. Is he dishonored and would you loose the 7 honor.

He refuses, and the action is canceled because it begins to dishonor him.

If some one target him with a show me your stance and looses does he go home Bowed and dishonored.

No.

Unexpected Strike

Unexpected Strike and Ongoing effects: What about Imperial Ambassdorship, Birth of the Sword, New Years Celebration or any other event which allows to draw cards?

They aren't ongoing effects.

And it's goodnight from me -- for a while. I'm trying to clear time up for several projects, work related and otherwise, over the next few months, so I'll be handing over daily rules Q&A to Vaughn Derderian for an indefinite period.

The sheer volume of questions means that I don't have much time to be terribly chatty in these posts. So let me take this opportunity to say that it is my pleasure to serve the L5R community.
