Rules for 18 December 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Strike at the tail
Can you use Strike at the tail even if there are no followers to target and destroy?
No (Diamond rules, pg. 73).
Agasha Chieh XP question
Chieh XP has a Jade Yari and Kuro's Fire attached. Since she can cast Kuro's Fire outside of a battle, can she boost one of the ranged attacks by combining it with the Yari?
No (Diamond rules, pg. 90).
no hiding place rules question
if someone falls on my knees my no hiding place do I still have to bow my attacking card for its range attack?
Yes. The Ranged Attack has been announced, and another target must be chosen (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/#Target). If no other target, the action is canceled, but if bowing is a cost, it must still be paid (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/#Cancel).
Blade of Penance
Does the personality become honorable instead of gaining the 4 honor from the blade after the first duel he wins or does the blade allow you to gain honor after winning a duel with a dishonored personality?
The former.
Takao's Jingasa?
If u have a personality who is bowed who has Takao's Jingasa on him an it is unbowed or satsu. Can either on of them cast a kiho that requires them to bow while they are bowed.
Yes (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/#Kiho).
Follow-up to Provinces and Battles
Is there a reason that some movement abilities/action say "...province" and others say "...battle" if all provinces have battles until the attack phase ends?
Happenstance. Put the magnifying lenses down, folks!
Confusion at Court + The Imperial Standard
If Confusion at Court is used to negate The Imperial Standard is it discarded or is it returned to hand?
Cancelled and returned to hand, unless you can pay the cost of the Favor by some other means (Diamond rules, pg. 72).
On a more general note, if you negate an attachment action as opposed to cancelling it, do you return the attaching card to your hand?
Same answer. These questions and many others are answered in the Diamond rules, pg. 72.
