unopposed overwhelmed

Can I play Overwhelmed while unopposed[?]

No, because a set of legal targets does not exist. It doesn't matter that you won't be doing the targeting -- there still must be some.

Weight of the Heavens

How long do the effects of Kiho's last if not other wise stated?

End of turn (Diamond Edition rulebook, pg. 70, in bold type).

Ruling question

I have in my hand 1 shadow's Claw and 1 Smoke and Mirrors. I play The Shadow's Claw, instead of focusing I look at the top 5 cards from my deck, then instead of focusing via Shadow's Claw I play Smoke and Mirrors. From where the card I draw from the Smoke come?

Er. Maybe. I guess so. Yes.

Weird. I never realised that Experienced traits worked that way, I thought it was all one trait like Soul Of.

If we get too many incongruities (like the one above), it probably will end up working like the "Soul of..." trait.

Rules questions: Ashura and Wedge

If I Wedge my Ashura, and it dies from the Wedge effect, does Ashura's trait destroy an opposing follower/personality before it dies?

No. Units are detroyed at battle resolution, Wedge destroys after that.

Iuchi Katsumi questions

I have Iuchi Katsumi at Province A, Moto Chagatai at Province B. My opponent has 1 personality at each province. For simplicity these are koto and toku. Koto at province A, Toku at province B. Iuchi Katsumi has a few items attached to her.

Katsumi's a preview card, right? No answers from me, then.

Does Bane of the Bastard target ALL of the cards face up, or any number you choose?

"Target any number..." (card text).

Yes.

Does it matter if it is during an Ambush versus a normal attack?

No.

Can you use the reaction on Omoidasu when you have a Wedge resolving on the same unit (destroying it)?

Yes. Choosing to use an ability is not targeting (Diamond Edition rules, pg. 73).

Hitomi Mae + Dotanuki

Does "When Mae enters a duel" occur before "Dotanuki gains +2C while this Personality opposes a Personality with less Force in a duel."?

No. Traits take effect before Reactions (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/#Timing).

In other words when do you start opposing a person in a duel?

After a challenge is accepted.

I assume that if you have the ring of fire in play you can use her first ability to give yourself the first opportunity to focus or strike and then destroy a weapons held by the opposing personality?

Yes.

Follower Destruction Question

If the Personality a Follower is attached to is destroyed, would the Followers still be considered attached to the Personality at the time of their destruction[?]

Yes.
