Greeting,

Decoy Question to Zen

According to the playgroup there, there has been some ruling on overwhelmed that prevent me from using Decoy. Is this true?

You can't use Decoy to circumvent paying a cost (like for *you* to play Overwhelmed), because Decoy saves cards *before* they are destroyed.

On: Decoy

So I have a personality that has a decoy. You play overwhelmed, can I use the decoy to avoid death?

Yes. Precedent: Moto Chagatai, Experienced. "Chagatai does not automatically prevent himself from being sent home. The negation of his movement has to be voluntarily used. You can try to send him home for your opponent's Overwhelmed and then keep him in the battle." (JA, 23 September 2003).

I will say, though, that I had to think long and hard about this one and look through a fair number of rulings to get the answer.

rule questions feign death

[I]f two or more copies of the same Unique Personality are in play (say, after a One Life, One Destiny), they cannot be saved by "die briefly, but come back" (Feign Death, Kisada's Shrine) effects, right?

No (Diamond Edition rulesbook, pg. 56).

Rules Q

Can focuses in a duel have their values reduced to a negative number?

No (Diamond Edition rulebook, pg. 62). Count all bonuses and penalties, then round to zero last.
