Greetings,

Retribution & Tireless Assault

As new 'attacker' after playing Retribution, during the new attack phase, can I Tireless Assault an additional unit in, since that's not an assignment (thus avoiding the 1 unit limitation)?

Yes (Rules Archive, General Rules, Battle, Maneuvers Segment).

petty Insults

If I play petty insults, can I then bow Bayushi Kaukatsu to give them another honor loss if it will put them under there starting family honor?

No. "Your loss cannot be copied or modified" (card text).

Shiro Shinjo question

You can't use SS reaction if it is bowed to save an item, correct?

Correct (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 24).

Bowed Personalities

Do Reactions on Bowed Personalities still Trigger[?]

No (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 24).

Akodo Yobi and Superior Strategist

If I have somebody in the battle use Superior Strategist to get a terrain, can I use Yobi's ability to draw a card[?]

No, because it is not played "from your hand" (Akodo Yobi card text).

cost question

If you are using the Anvil's Blessing to attach an item to a personality with a Ratling Scavengers attached, is the gold cost of the item lowered by 2, as the Ratling Scavengers says?

Yes (card text).

Rules for 17 October 2003, Part 2

Can you not choose Sozen because you have the choice on Sorrow's Path,or has this been decided by the rules team.

When a card presents you with two options, you cannot choose an option that you *know* will fail. (*)

You can't pick the first option for Sorrow's Path (destroy a unit) if that entire unit (Personality + attached cards) cannot be destroyed. That was the case in the original example: Sozen cannot be destroyed, so the *unit* cannot be destroyed, so you cannot choose that option. That means you must destroy 3 cards (or as many as possible).

(*) There are specific card rulings that contradict this. The Rules Junta is aware of this, and is discussing the issue.
