Unaligned Ratlings
Do unaligned ratlings count as ratlings for ratling players?
Yes. The term "Unaligned" has no effect on other faction traits.
Seppuku Question
Can seppuku (since it falls outside the normal action rules) fulfill multiple triggers at once?
No.
I control Matsu Gohei, with Yokutsu no Shiryo attached, and Akodo Yobi. My opponent issues an Iaijutsu Challenge to Yobi. If Yobi commits seppuku, will he: A) Reduce the honor loss to one (rulebook seppuku) and gain me three honor (Yokutsu's reaction), netting me two? B) Allow me the choice of losing one (rulebook seppuku) or losing four (Yokutsu and the seven honor loss for refusal)

I'm pretty sure the ruling from the last time this came up - which isn't in the rulings, hence my uncertainty - was, you can target the personality, and all effects happen except the change of control.
Correct. It's not in the rulings because it's a straightforward application of other, more general rules (Gold Edition rules, pg. 45).
Questions about defending
If an attack is declared and Tansho assigns to defend a province with no units can she still use her ability since battles resolve at all provinces?
No.
More Kwanchai Kwaziness
If A Scorpion personality wins a battle aginst an Ashura or a personality with Yu when Kwanchai xp is out and unbowed, and the personality dies from that effect, can Kwanchai's ability be used?
Yes.
[If] a Scorpion personality dies as a result of being targetted by an Ashura after losing to a duel, can Kwanchai's ability be activated then?
Yes.

The sword bonus can never become a penalty (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 31).
As far as I remember, when you had a stat fixed to a certain value, all bonuses and penalties where considered part of the newly set stat[.]
True, you always keep track of the total pluses and minuses, but the bonus never becomes a penalty, nevertheless.
Bloodied Ground
At the tourney the player claimed that [Bloodied Ground] creates presence for itself[.]
If you mean, "Can it played played in a battle where you have no units?", no.
