Greetings,

Rules for 29 September 2003

OK, what happens when the Sword's Force Bonus is +7 because I have 7 personalities aligned to my faction in play and my opponent uses Daigotsu to lower it to 0. Then I lose a guy dropping it to +6, does the sword become a +6 because it checks it again or does it become a -1.

The Personality stays at zero. The sword bonus can never become a penalty (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 31).

Then what happens if I use Kisada's Shrine to bring the guy back in and what happens if I play A Wish Granted during battle, would the sword go from 0 to +8 or 0 to +1?

Any new Personalities brought into play would add +1 to the Personality targeted by Daigotsu, just like normal (except you're starting from a lower Force value).

Some Mantis/Archery questions...

Can I target someone with a Ranged Attack that will do nothing?

Yes.

Can I target a personality with a ranged attack (uselessly) even if they have attached followers?

No. Not legal to target.

How does the new Mukami interact with the Castle of the Wasp? If you choose not to bow him, does he still go home?

Yes.

[D]oes every card in a unit bow at Battle Resolution or just the personality?

All cards (Gold Edition rules, pg. 57).

The abilities on the Castle of the Wasp are not reactions, correct?

Yes.

Rules Question

With Egg of Pan ku or Kolat Recruiter, can you bring the personality into play for your opponent?

No.

[I]f you use Daigastu on a peep with the clan sword on it, later increases or decreases to the swords bonus will NOT change the force of the personality from its 0 force?

They will (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 32).

Rules for 29 September 2003, Part 2

Are you saying that the Force of the card targeted with Daigostu is set to zero until the end of the turn?

No.

When I bring in one or more faction aligned personalities, when does the sword start getting its bonus(es) for them?

The same as always: when a Personality comes into play. And, just like always, it would raise the force of the Personality targeted by Daigotsu by one.

If I lose one or more personalities, when does the sword start losing its bonus(es)?

The same as always; when the Personality is destroyed.

Daigotsu and celestial swords

Can you target a peep with a clan sword attached with daigotsu to make him 0 force?

Yes.

Or does that just make the [Personality] 0 force and is the sword still being active?

The Personality's current force -- including all current bonuses -- becomes 0.

Couple more questions....

For Blood Money, does that mean that (effectively) for in clan people you can pay thier printed amount to bring them in without honor, if you don't meet thier honor requirements, or thier printed cost plus two to bring them in with honor, if you don't meet thier honor requirements?

Yes.

Since you can make a ranged attack without bowing with the Castle of the Wasp, does that mean that like Satsu doing Kihos while bowed, any of the archers that require bowing for their ranged attacks can do so while bowed if they use the Castle's ability to make a ranged attack without bowing?

Oh, that's a Diamond thing. Left for Jeff Alexander.

Couple more questions....

Left for Zen Faulkes. (Two can play at that game!)

Just remember who was the innovator and who was the imitator. ;)

Kolat Master & Shadowland Duelists in Tainted decks

First, can kolat master effect personalities with the descripter of "Will only join 'clan'"?

No (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 73).

[W]ill it still work where both players are playing the same faction[?]

Yes.

[D]oes a shadowlands card gain honor if played in a tainted deck and is used in a duel?

Yes. Why wouldn't it? (Just trying to figure out where that question came from...)

Rules for 30 September 2003

to sum everything up:

Given two Shadowlands personalities X & Y you control, and personality Z you do not control. Given that X wears the porcelain mask of fu-leng [Experienced]:

if X initiates a Iiajutsu lesson with Z, X doesn't get any bonus for the duration of the duel, and neither does Y.

Right.

if Y initiates a Iaijutsu lesson with Z, Y gets the mask's bonuses for the duel, and so does X.

Right.

if Z is also shadowlands and initiates (or is the victim of) a Iai lesson with X, neither Z, nor X nor Y get bonuses from the mask.

Right.
