Does that mean that the possessive is not equivalent to "attached to"?
No, that's not what it means.
"The Personality's Items" does indeed refer to the attached cards.
What seems to be overlooked is that items can give bonuses to cards besides to the attaching Personality.
People are trying to read into the card is that the only bonuses that are negated are bonuses to the attaching Personality. Iaijutsu Lesson has a broader wording -- it says those cards give *no* bonuses and produce *no* effects. Thus, Iaijutsu Lesson, by its current wording, turns those off bonuses to cards outside those two units *in addition to* bonuses to the attaching Personality.
