Does that change your ruling?
No. The point I was trying to make was that an item on one Personality that gives a bonus to another Personality (including the opposing one) is also negated; the text of Iaijutsu Lesson doesn't say "Items attached to a Personality give no bonuses to that Personality.".
Given the current text, where only the Challenger and Challenged personalities' items have no effects... If I were to switch in a duelist, perhaps with Kyuden Doji, who has the Clan sword, would he receive the bonuses?
