Rules for 22 September 2003

Zen Faulkes, sent 22 September 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Kakita Mai xp

Actually, a SL player can play holdings that cause honor loss because the honor loss is an effect of use and not a cost of use.

In fairness, old cards aren't worded according to the current cost style. Hence the archived rulings for those cards.

SLH, Honor Loss, etc...was "Kakita Mai xp"

Oracle of the Void and Settozi, one card that has been used a LOT by Shadowlands Players for it's secondary ability (draw cards up to 5, lose 2 Honor per card...Loss cannot be modified) and Settozi which says that the dishonoring and loss of Honor area costs.

Incorrect. Neither of those cards have the honor loss worded as costs (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 39).

Rules Question

I'm playing Phoenix, using Morning Glory Castle. I have a Shiba Yoma with an experienced version overlayed on top of him. The Shiba Yoma has been hit with a Sinister Transformation so he's 5 force 4 chi. Unfortunately, some unruly peasants rise up and smoke my man Yoma. He's dead. Here's where it gets a bit strange. a turn later I bring the inexperienced Yoma back into a province, and then into play. So what is his force and chi, and why?

The inexperienced Yoma cannot be shuffled back into the deck (Gold Edition rulebook, pg, 37).

help?

what is the ruling on csting kihos and spells by some his out side of the battle . that target some one in the battle.

The relevant rules are spelled out in detail in the Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 53.

Yeaaaaa Boy!

I'd rather see inane deck posts and read Zen mention that it hasn't been proved that going first offers an advantage for the 30th time(No offense Zen, i love you madly) than here anymore complainging about little children with proxies beating grown men.

Hey, I *admit* that it's an advantage. I don't know how important it is, or how it could be best balanced. Rather different.
