Rules for 10 September 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Rules Question
If I use Shrine of the Sun on Far From the Empire do : a/ Honor Victory is set at 40 honor again b/ Honor Victory is kept at 40 + (3*Favor Utilisation) but using the favor don't increase it again.
A. See Rules Archive, General Rules, Effects, and specific cards, Solar Eclipse.
Rules Question
I looked in the archive under "Canceling and negation" but I'm still not sure about this one.
I can see I'm going to have to move the ruling. It's under Shrine of Osano-Wo. Give me a day or two.
If I'm able to cancel an action that produces multiple consecutive ranged attacks (i.e. Forward Guard to cancel Kuro's Fire) are *all* the ranged attacks canceled or just the first one?
If you cancel an action, you cancel the *whole* thing (Gold Edition Rulebook, pg. 45) -- i.e., every Ranged Attack created by it. A Ranged Attack is not an action (though they are usually generated by actions).
Open Environment
Now that Diamond is coming out, and new rulings and MRPs are coming into effect, what will be the effect on the Open environment?
The same as it's always been, for the most part.
For example, what rings will everyone be able to use?
Jeff has confirmed the Rings are MRPs.
This also goes for other cards, like Matsu Gohei, whose cost has been increased,
Gohei is not in Diamond. A "Soul of..." card is a new card, and does not impact the previously printed card.
Are You With Me? whose text now is made so the cost of a follower is reduced to a minimum of one, instead of zero[.]
The card title is the same, so that *is* an MRP.
The only thing in Diamond I can think of that has been confirmed to have the same title but not be an MRP is the House of Tao stronghold, which can still be used as a Brotherhood stronghold in Open.
