Rules for 20 August 2003

Zen Faulkes, sent 20 August 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Where does the Egg go???

When the Egg of P'an Ku dies, which discard pile does it go to?? Can it be brought back??

From the Rules Archive (http://l5r.alderac.com/rulings/): Dynasty. Yes.

Does it still count a a personality, or an action??

It is a Personality, but remains an Action for purposes if Uniqueness (mini-FAQ, Zen's Card of the Week #25, http://l5r.shorturl.com).

Bloodied Ground Part II

I attack my opponent's provinces with Shinjo Shono exp 2. I play Bloodied Ground. I use Shono's ability to move to a different battle. Can I play a fate card using Bloodied Ground's action?

"Even if an army has no units." Yes.

[C]an I still destroy the province, provided that my fate values exceed my opponent's fate values by enough to destroy the province?

Yes.

I attack my opponent's provinces with Shinjo Shono exp 2. I play Bloodied Ground. We play fate cards as per Bloodied Ground's ability. I play A Samurai's Fury, and move Shono to the next province. Do my fate values travel with Shono, or remain in the original battle?

Original battle. This ruling leads to less confusing situations if there are multiple units in an army and one moves.

I attack my opponent's provinces with Shinjo Shono exp 2 at one province, and Moto Latomu at another. I play Bloodied Ground. We play fate cards as per Bloodied Ground's ability. I play A Samurai's Fury, and use my stronghold ability to switch Shono exp 2 and Latomu. Do the fate values remain in the province and add to Latomu's force, or do they travel with Shono?

The army bonus stays in the battle they were played.

New Ring of the Void rules question

I am confused on how you play the new Ring of the Void.

One for Jeff Alexander. I ain't touching those Diamond questions...

Reju/Domotai and Rend the Soul

I didn't catch the final answer to what happens when the "tied means I win" trait and Rend the Soul go head-to-head.

Rules Archive, Specific Cards, Actions, Rend the Soul.

Rules for 19 August 2003, Part 2

What happens if I play 2x Political Entanglements on a Ratling Conjuror? My understanding, based on the rulings on the Night Medallion is that it becomes: Ratling Conjuror 0F (actually -1F), 0chi, 2g, 0PH (actually -2PH). Cannot attach spells with a gold cost above 1. Open: Bow Ratling Conjuror and discard a card from your hand to give all Ratling Cards -1F.

Political Entanglements and the Night Medallion are worded slightly differently. The former reduces a numeral by 1, the other adds +2. For Political Entanglements to exactly parallel Night Medallion, it would have to "add -1" or something.

I'm going to chicken out and leave this one for Jeff.
