A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
How do I play this Game....anyone...anyone?
That's an awfully odd question from someone who knew how to join this mailing list. Well, assuming this isn't a joke post by someone who snuck into your account, the best place to start would be the rulebook. If you don't have a physical one, you can read it online through links at http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/ccg/rules.html . A good summary of the game in general, although lacking play guides, is at http://l5r.shorturl.com/zenfaq.html .

A good night's sleep really helps. I woke up today, and i knew the answer to that question. If a personality casts Stifling Wind in the current battle, using spell's second ability "Bow this shugenja to bow a personality with no unbowed followers", than this spell can target any of my opponents personalities with no unbowed followers, no matter where they are. Right?
Right.
Card prices of rares....
Been having a discussion on one of the clan lists about costs of some of the rares and wanted to get some more attention to it.
Shrine to Daikoku is running about 25-30$ on ebay.
Thats kind of alot of money for a non-unique non-promo rare.
Could the powers that be try to consider demand for a card when making it rare? I understand its a fine line as there is a business involved here and cards being bought is what keeps it going, but one of the nice things about L5R is its usually much easier to get all the rares you need for your deck or your collection than some of the other games.
Just wanted to bring this up.
eBay prices are not a good indication of average price. All it takes is one person, anywhere, to be willing to part with $30 to get a card instead of letting someone else have it to generate the prices you're seeing. An auction by its very nature will showcase the maximum price, not the average.
The rapid sellout of Heaven & Earth is also inflating the price of EVERY card in the set. Supply and demand, you know.
And high-cost rares are the exception, not the rule. Remarkably few even make it into the double-digits.
And anyway, when you get right down to it, the only way to ensure no rare is ever expensive is to ensure they are all weak and lackluster, which would be staggeringly detrimental to the health of the game.

Instead, they made Gifts and Favors a fixed card in starter decks and everyone can get them. If Shrine to Daikoku proves important enough, I'm almost certain we'll see more access to it.
It will not prove "important enough". There is a universe of difference between a card that helps one uniquely and dependably recover from a gold-free first turn and just one more Holding that costs two gold and can be used to produce three -- something most clans already have three of in their decks.
