Questionable combo
Some one posted this combo some where. To me it sound a little ify so i wondered if some one could say yes it works and is leagal or not it doesn't.
"Take one Mirumoto Uso exp, put on him the dragon ancestor to make duels a duel of personal honor, give him double chi (via kiho or Tusdao's tanto), and Ij. Art with him
Focus in this order, a Rend the soul, followed by a Let your spirt guide you, you just focus a 40 (10 for rend and 15 for LYSGY), you tie because of rend, so you are both dishonor, play a honorable sep. and gain 43 honor. This can be done on the 3rd turn. Have fun. "
Looks legal to me.
Rules question
Recently a particularly annoyingly hard to find card has been causing me problems... Overwhelemed.
A) Is the action a targetted effect?
Yes. (It does not fall under case 1, 2, or 3 on GE p. 45.)
B) Does it matter how many units I have at the battle when overwhelmed is played?
No.
post for 29 May 2003 / Hoshi Chuichi + TWT
How much honor can I redirect with Hoshi Chuichi and the wind's truth? Only 4 or 6? (with his bonus for being bowed (+2F/+2C))
4. He needs to have a Chi at least equal to the honor's size when he bows, not after.
;;;;;
How about Chuichi and facing your devils? Would that be a chi of 4 or 6?
6, because both the duel and the refusal occur after he is bowed.
Partial actions question?
If an action says "X happens and Y happens" and for some reason X cannot happen (prevented from happening, not necessarily negated or cancelled), does Y still happen?
Yes.
Examples: 1) Personality A may not straighten (due to Atoshi or Dragon tattoo say), and I play Tireless Assault. Does the personality move into the battle without straightening? (That'd make Spider Tattoo tasty)
Yes.
2) Daidoji Rekai exp is somehow prevented from moving into a battle (ie she followed a new path, she sees an ambush). She tries to move in, targeting someone with her ranged attack before movement is announced (targeting comes first, right?). Does her ranged attack still resolve?
Yes.
Togashi Matsuo question?
We're in a wee bit of a dilemma regarding what is still legally targetting Togashi Matsuo when he leaves a battle.
Anything that could have targeted him at the new Province originally.
For example, Matsuo is attacking province A. The defender plays BSL and Matsuo then slides to province B. The defender declares he's still a legal target as he's still attacking. The attacker says he's not, because we're still resolving the battle at A and Matsuo is not a legal target for a BSL played at battle A.
The attacker is right. He is not legal. BSL is canceled.
Who is right, and if the attacker is right, what action would still be legal against Matsuo both before and after he moves?
There aren't many. One example: the second action on Stifling Wind, provided the caster is in the current battle.
Accept with honor Q
Can you Accept with honor any of the unrefusable duels?
Yes.
Rules question
I just had this come up in a game I played and I wanted to be sure I played it correctly.
1. I am playing Mantis with Kyuden Gotei. I have Isawa Nodotai in play and he is not in the current battle. Can I use his reaction for one of my archers that is in battle?
Yes.
2. I have declared a naval invasion. I bow one of my naval personalities to use my stronhold ability before my opponents first action. Can I then take 2 consecutive battle actions?
Yes.
Some Crab related questions
I'd value people's input (and perhaps official ruling) on the following:
When I Berserker Rage one of my berserker personalities, can they gain force bonuses afterward (i.e. Frenzy, Dead Eyes ability) or is the phrase "That Berserker's Force becomes equal to twice his or her printed Force until the battle ends" absolute?
Their Force may change afterwards.
Also, if I play Dead Eyes on one of my personalities, then in a subsequent battle I use A Test Of Courage to stop them being sent home, can I still use the +3F battle ability?
Yes. The ability neither targets the Personality nor requires bowing.
And finally, Does Hida Yagimaki gain +1F/+1C for every personality/follower destroyed in his army, or +1F/+1C for each instance of a destruction?
What is the difference?
For example, Hida Yagamaki and another personality who has 3 followers attached are in a battle. The other personality's unit gets hit with To Do What We Must, does Yagamaki gain +1F/+1C or does he gain +4F/+4C (+1F/+1C for the personality and each of the followers)?
+4/+4. To Do What We Must destroys an entire unit, so it would kill every card in it directly, not just the Personality.
Rules Questions
Blackened Sky Battle:Take as many consecutive actions that make ranged attacks as you like, before the next player takes an Open or Battle action. You cannot take Reactions during this time unless they make ranged attacks
It is evident from this that one cannot use Arrows From the Woods or Tsuruchi Technique to increase a ranged attack strength and then continue shooting. Can one react to the final ranged attack with a card like Arrows From the Woods? Or is that still considered to be "during this time"
You can only use a Reaction that happens "after" the last ranged attack. Arrows From the Woods doesn't work.
Need help now!!!!!!!!!!!
If you use Turn of Fate and bring a personality into play as limited action with the spell. Do you gain the personalities personal honor if he is allinged with your faction?
No.
Three Questions
#1. Lesser of Two Evils (KYD 94) reads:
Political Limited: Bow and destroy one of your Personalities to play this card. Until the beginning of your next turn, reduce all honor gains and losses by 2, to a minimum of 1. You may not play this card if you have gained honor this turn.
If I have not yet gained honor on my turn, is it a legal play to:
1) Play Lesser of Two Evils 2) Bow and destroy my Lady Kitsune as a part of the cost of the action. 3) Respond to the destruction of Lady Kitsune as a part of paying the cost of the action by bowing Kakita Shijin to gain 5 honor. 4) Then the effect of Lesser of Two Evils kicks in, reducing all Honor gains and losses by 2 until the beginning of my next turn.
Yes.
Also, if Soul of Thunder resolved that turn, at the beginning of my next turn, can I declare:
1) Lesser of Two Evils ends. 2) Gain 7 honor from Soul of Thunder. 3) Check for honor victory.
Yes.
#2. Shinjo Guan (H&E 157) reads:
Reaction: Once per battle, Guan gains +2F after you assign a Unicorn Clan Cavalry Personality to an army during Infantry Maneuvers.
I'm confused by "once per battle." Does this mean Guan can gain 4 +2F bonuses if I assign 4 Unicorn Cavalry Personalities to 4 different battles?
From the FAQ, he should really say "once per attack".
#3. Dotanuki (FOU 131) reads:
Weapon. Dotanuki gains +2C while this Personality opposes a Personality with less Force in a duel.
Does this trait take effect if it cannot be determined if the attaching Personality has more force than the opposing Personality (for instance during a Test of Might)?
Forwarded to the Rules Team.
A) Can it be played on your own personality?
I don't know what you're asking here.
B) Is it considered a targeted effect? I.E. If I have one unit at the battle and my opponent overwhelms, can I use Flee or "Towers of the Asako" to cancel it?
The targets for the second half of its effects -- the kill-one-or-return-two -- are chosen by the lead opposing player. The MRP of Flee and Towers can cancel it. Cards that only cancel actions when ANOTHER player targets your cards cannot.
Tjeki question
So this just came up in a game...
Bob the Shugenja tries to cast Importune Kami. Yogo Tjeki exp says "You me, fight now!". Bob's controller tries playing Balance in Nothingness. Does Tjeki get cancelled?
Yes.
The problem is that Tjeki challenges *before* the spell is cast, but is this immediately after declaration of the action but before the costs are paid or after costs are paid?
After costs but before effects.
L5r-ccg digest, Vol 1 #527 - 13 msgs
- Because the local gaming store owner and the general consensus of all the locals players was that it didn't. I looked at the gold rulebook and thought they were crazy, but it's hard to argue with mass delusions. The arguement they were using was that "highest force unit" only targeted if there was an actual choice to make.
He is still operating under pre-Gold rules. (And he's not even doing that very well, since even before Gold, an action had to be untargeted under all play conditions. Actions that could offer a choice in some situations but not others, like Block Supply Lines, were targeted even when the choice was forced due to the existence of only one possible target.)
