Greetings,

Two questions about Show of Good Faith

I take control of, say, a Dragon personality with Show [of Good Faith]. I play Oath of Fealty on him, changing him to Lion Clan. Does he remain Lion Clan?

Gold Edition rules, pg. 43: "Swearing fealty is permanent." Yes.

I take control of a personality and attach a Kiseru. If he bows, does he stay bowed until I discard a card, or until he discards?

Kiseru's test says, "...unless you discard a card..." Gold Edition rulebook, Glosary: "Your: Controlled by you." Current controller must discard.

On: Kiseru

As a non-Naval Attacker, can I sneak attack a naval invasion defender?

No. From The Fall of Otosan Uchi rulesheet, which I quoted yesterday:

"No player may take actions (including Reactions) or bring cards into play between the start of the Battle Action Segment and the first Battle or Open action opportunity, except for Reactions to that action."

Rules for 17 April 2003, Part 1 (urgent)

does this mean that the G+F MRP is in effect already? It matters, because there's the little matter of Gencon UK this Saturday, while H&E isn't released till Monday...

This is going to sound like *such* a dodge, for which I apologize, but that is a question for the tournament organizer and / or judge. Even a Deputy Rules Guy's power pales in comparison to a tournament judge...

Now, if it were my tournament? I'd suggest using the Heaven & Earth printing. The Rules Archive has had the Heaven & Earth text up since about 7 April 2003.

I'm working from H&E spoilers, not real cards for this one...

rue question

does the steel fan target your personality?

Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 45. Yes.

Can I use the reaction when my personality is boweD?

Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 46. No.

Rules for 17 April 2003, Part 1

does using the Imperial messanger on an honor loss from bringing a personality into play, change the loss from an effect to a cost or restriction?

No. It just doubles the size of the loss.

G&F Question

if you have to pull a Gifts and Favors from one of your provinces, under the MRP, you don't refill the province right away, correct?

Incorrect. Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 22.

Blade of Truths X Kakita Technique

Can I use the Reaction on Blade of Truths to name a focus 3 to prevent the opposing duelist from playing kakita technique?

No, due to card text. Kakita Technique is played "when" a Personality enters a duel; Blade of Truths is played "after."

And what about the effect of the oracle of fire? The player may play the top card as a focus and that focus will only count if its not the focus I named right?

Wrong. Rules Archive, Blade of Truths: "Only prevents Reactions on action cards. [JA, 23 July 2002]"

Show of Good Faith Rules Question

If I use Show of Good Faith to take control of someone's personality and I am using Naseru as my Wind can I use Bane of the Anvil to take permanent control of them?

Answered a couple of days ago. Yes.

if I have Show of Good Faithed someone, can I use Loyalty Renewed to take permanent control of them?

Yes.

if I do either of these things, will the stipulation on Show of Good Faith that says I cannot attack or move cards to or from the person I've SoGF'ed while I control that person be permanent?

Yes. (Why wouldn't it?)
