Zen Faulkes, sent 17 April 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Clarification on Show of Good Faith

It is my understanding that if I use Show of Good Faith to steal a peep and I kill that peep that it goes to my Discard pile and remains there, even after Show of Good Faiths duration has passed.

Yes. See Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/#Destroy)

Also what happens if the personality that I steal with Show of Good Faith is shuffled into my dynasty deck?

Forwarded to the Rules Junta.

MRP

MRP are supposed to be effective on the street release date of a set or 30 days after when the set is legal?

The former.

Timing of honor loss when playing a card...

With attaching items/followers that have a built in honor loss such as Porcelian mask of Fu Leng, when is the honor loss generated?

Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 25. After the card enters play.

if I was attaching the item to a shugenja, i could Winds truth it to another player with that very shugenja right? And the shugenja's chi would be increased by the mask allowing him to make larger winds truths (as in the 6 honor loss for the exp mask) right?

Yes. Yes.

When playing Ambush, does one ... [snip list of options, all of which were wrong.]

Effects resolve in order they're written on the card. The honor loss is the last thing to occur (after honor gains for winning the battle), because that's the last things written on the card.

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Naval_doubt?=

I was wondering if someone could please explain me what, exactly, are the rules concerning Naval attacks.

From The Fall of Otosan Uchi rulesheet:

"If every Personality and Follower in only one army has the Naval trait, then immediately after that battle is chosen for resolution, the Naval army's leader may elect to make the battle a naval invasion. If so:

" * If the attacking army is the Naval one, the Attacker gets the first option of playing a Battle or Open action (or passing), and play then proceeds in turn order from the Attacker, not from the Defender.

" * Players with units in the Naval army may not play Terrains until after one of the other players passes or takes a Battle or Open action.

" * No player may take actions (including Reactions) or bring cards into play between the start of the Battle Action Segment and the first Battle or Open action opportunity, except for Reactions to that action.

"A naval invasion may not be declared by an empty army but may be declared against one. A naval invasion may not be declared if both armies are Naval."

Anotehr question on shouw of good faith

If I steal a [Personality] with shouw of good faith, dishonor him, and I play Naseru, can I bane of the anvil to gain permanent control of him?

Probably yes.

Why just "probably"? Because I haven't held any Heaven & Earth cards in my hands yet. I normally ask people not quote card text, but if you're asking questions about Heaven & Earth, I would appreciate it this time.

Rekai's Harriers Question

If I use the ability of the Harriers to reduce all force bonuses on a person with a weapon attached, do they still have the force from the weapon?

Probably no. (Again, working from spoilers, which is a risky proposition.)

Same question, I target the clan sword? Another weapon?

Depends on the card text. Celestial Swords, for example, get a bonus, so that can be reduced to zero. Something like an Ono will remain at +2. It's more efficient to target a Personality.
