Rules for 14 April 2003, Part 2
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Rules for 14 April 2003, Part 1
If you haven't revealed your stronghold, how can your add your family honor?
You remember that cut Focus value until you reveal your stronghold.
I'm not letting you escape that easily. You're not supposed to stop cutting until you have someone who clearly goes first, as evidenced in the example. You can't do that until you've revealed strongholds. :)
Just say the total (since your starting family honor will be revealed in a moment anyway). There are multiple strongholds with every starting family honor (okay, except 1), so your opponent won't know what Stronghold you're playing.
Two quick ones
For Daigotsu, in order to get the favor, you must bow a personality with "any" personal honor. My interpretation would be that means 1 or more, since 0 is a lack of personal honor, and does not fit the requirements. Correct?
No. See Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings/). Zero Personal honor is legit.
For a Naval invasion, I play Blackened Skies. I hold 2 Tsuruchi techniques, and an arrow from the woods. Will using one of them as a reaction to boost a range attack end blackened skies, or is that considered generating a range attack?
Not allowed. Gold Edition Blackened Skies says, "You cannot take Reactions... unless they *make* Ranged Attacks."
Shuffling
would this be considered cheating??
"Cheating" is a loaded word, since it implies something planned out and deliberately intended to deceive. Let's say, "bad idea." Or "problematic."
putting my regions, gold and events from my dynasty deck in one pile seperate from personalities, then shuffling both piles seperately, then shullfing them together a couple of times?? It helps me keep out a bit of clumping for me.
That's a problem. As others have noted, "keeping out clumping" is a subtle form of stacking.
2 quick ones, then 1 of mine
when Moto Tech is played as a face-up focus in a Test of Might by a Moto, how are the forces of the Personalities compared?
Forwarded to the Rules Junta. Focuses add as soon as played, so this one is a mite sticky, and I can't think of a precedent right now.
Several Question
I decide to shame my personality. But before i play the Shame, I bow Imperial Messenger to increase the honor loss. MY opponent sees my Kaukatsu and canceles my Political Reaction on the Imperial Messenger. Am I obliged to play the Shame or not?
I reckon you must, because to even try to use the Messenger, you must have announced that you were going to play a card causing an honor loss. If you followed the timing to the letter ("Bow before a player plays a card..."), Imperial Messenger almost never be used, since how could you know if a card was causing an honor loss until it was being played?
Doji Seishiro - is his "gains Force equal to his Personal Honor" a force bonus, or is he copying his force = PH?
There is no difference between the two. See Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 31. If a value goes up, it's getting a bonus.
Can that gain be In Searched?
Sure.
Campsite
How many times can I use Campsite? Ie. I can draw only one card or one for each unit attacking the province?
The latter. You get cards when units are moved into battle, too.
