Q: Kaneka's Advance
This is one for Jeff but the rest of you peeps can jump in on it too. Re: Kaneka's Advance F3 Battle: If there are one or more opposing units, move one of your Personalities from this battle to a different one. The opposing player may bow one of his or her Personalities in this battle to give your Personality
I believe this means that I have to resolve the province containing the personality and the opposing army first, correct?
Correct. "This battle" means "current battle" on Action cards. [FOU rulesheet]
Kakita Dojo
Would you bow to gain the chi bonus before or after adding the focus totals?
You add focuses as soon as they're played. Since you can't use Kakita Dojo until a strike is called, you will get the Dojo bonus after focusing.
No Hiding Place + Tsuruchi Technique
Can I play a Tsuruchi Technique after I play a No Hiding Place? I mean, can I increase the ranged attack strenght?
If the attack comes "from exactly one of your attacking cards in the current battle", there's an incredibly high chance it's coming from "one of your units". Tsuruchi Technique's Reaction is legal.
Auspicious house+forgotten tomb question [JEFF]
If you have a 0 force shadowlands peep in an auspicious house, and you put it in the forgotten tomb, and from there into play do you refill the auspicious house face up or face down?
Face-down. You did not bring the Shadowlands card into play from the Province.
Rules question with Onisu and Rekai
What is the order of events in the following situation?
At a battle, I have Muchitsujo, the Onisu of Chaos with the following "Reaction: Once per turn, after a unit assigns to a battle during a Cavalry Maneuvers Segment or moves into a battle, bow that unit". At the battle, Daidoji Rekai comes galloping in with her "Battle: Once per turn, move Rekai into the current battle and have her make a Ranged 3 Attack that cannot combine with other ranged attacks, without bowing."
My assumption is, as soon as Rekai "moves" into the battle, that is the trigger for Muchitsujo's reaction, which will then stop the Ranged 3 attack ... right?
Bowing her won't stop the ranged attack. Even destroying her with Slaughter the Scout won't. [FOU rulesheet] The "without bowing" on Rekai overrides the standard rule that ranged attacks require bowing the shooter, nothing more.
rule question
Does scroll cache's cost reduction last until the end of the turn?
Yes.
Shadow's Claw
The Shadow's Claw Reaction: Play before your Personality focuses in a duel. Look at your top five fate cards. Focus with one, take one into your hand, and shuffle the rest into the deck.
Rulings Archive: Replaces your normal focus rather than adding to it or allowing two focus cards. [JA, email, 10 February 2003]
Iaijutsu Art Limited: One of your Personalities issues an unrefusable challenge to a Personality with equal or higher Chi. Each Personality focuses exactly once, if possible, and Reactions taken "instead of focusing" cannot be taken. The winner's controller gains 4 Honor. Dishonor the loser.
Question:
Does the ruling above effectively errata the text of The Shadow's Claw to read "Reaction: Instead of focusing in a duel, look at your top five fate cards. Focus with one, take one into your hand, and shuffle the rest into the deck." ?
Yes.
Corruptions Price (question for Jeff A.)
An opposing player has 1 shadowlands holding and a non-shadowlands peep. It is his turn, he bows the shadowlands holding to attach a light infantry to the peep. I use CP to destroy the holding and the peep. What happens to the Light Infantry? Does he keep it in his hand?Or now that there is no legal peep to attach it to is it discarded?
It is discarded.
