A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Good terrains (kinda long but fun)
Encircled terrain Tried it. Didn't like it. One and only problem which could be fixed in Diamond - Re-write it as an Immediate Terrain. Then it would be played more often.
Won't happen. That card would violate the fundamental design structure of Terrains: destroying one should reduce or eliminate its effects on you.
What I'd like to see in Diamond and even earlier sets...
The single things that I'd like to see most of all in the sets from now until Diamond is for Unique cards (as well as Events and any other "one per deck" cards) to be restricted to the Uncommon and Rare slots of boosters
I'd say the odds of that are excellent, given how infrequently one-per-deck cards have appeared in Common slots in the history of the game.
Deadly Ground
I always liked Legendary Victory, myself. A card that encourages taking actions (and risks!) and rewards you when your successful.
I wondered why this wasn't in Gold. Torrential Rain and Night Battle are in, but a card that brings the honor and military flavor to the fore of the game is out. I always wondered about that.
Players and playtesters alike regularly protest cards that only give you a benefit when you're already winning the game, claiming that they're pointless and won't ever get played.

Because of the printing process we use, we have an equal number of fate and dynasty cards at each rarity level. Because the number or unique dynasty is more than unique fate, we inevitably end up with a situation where there are non-unique fate rares as we often have a few unique dynasty fall into the uncommon slots. This has always been true, and we try hard to make sure there is never an uncommon unique when it could have been made rare.
....with the deliberate exception of Events, since we don't want such a fundamental card type restricted to rares only.
Season of the Phoenix
is the deadline for this season passed already?
We'll be taking reports until the end of the month.
Question
I have seen Taisa on a few cards and I am wondering what it is for. It is a Lion Ancestor but also on both a Lion peep and a Crane peep. Would anyone please enlighten me on this?
It is a mid-level military rank. Going from top to bottom, the complete list looks like this:
daimyo rikugunshokan shireikan taisa chui gunso bushi (soldier)
There are no special rules in the CCG for any of these traits.
