Question about imperial palace and shadowlands strongholds (jeff)

The imperial palace of fu leng reads:

...Your cards cannot perform or be targeted by Political actions...

Other shadowlands strongholds read:

...You cannot take Political actions...

Therefore i understand there is a difference between my cards and me. About imperial palace:

To what kind of cards extends this rule, as long as i know the only cards that "perform" actions are "in play" cards such as personalities, followers, holdings... So can Imperial palace play political action cards such as emperor's left hand and others?

Yes. They can even use the Favor to, say, send a unit home from battle, though they have to figure out a way of getting it other than lobbying.

On the other side if there is a real difference between me and my cards, does the "you cannot take political actions" clausule include "your cards cannot perform political actions"

Yes. "Perform" has a specific definition in the game, whereas "take" and "play" are general terms and cover all action use.

Alliance question

One of my players asked for a ruling, so here goes:

Is Alliance a card effect?

It's a card, and it says some Personalities cost less. It's a card effect.

Multi question

Does the ruling for Gifts and Favors also work for Imperial Gift or even Boundless Sight. My opponent stated before he even went looking that the only item he had in his deck was his clan sword which was already in play, but he looked through his deck and then shuffled anyway.

There is no ruling on Gifts and Favors. The "you lose if you don't find one" result is new text written onto the Most Recent Printing of the card. There is nothing to extend to other cards.

What if the shadowlands win?

Dairya's soul stays trapped forever.

And just to be weird (and funny) what if the ratlings win?

The Ratligns aren't the Shadowlands, so it would be freed.

2. Does Shosuro Tech target the personality who the bonus is being copied from?

The Battle action does.

Ok Jeff,

Why does the battle action target the personality being copied but the reaction doesnt?

Actions, by default, target anything they affect or need to choose between. You have to choose who to copy Force from in the battle, but you don't have to choose who to copy Chi from in a duel. Since Shosuro Technique also doesn't do anything to the opposing Personality, there's nothing causing it to target him.

Honor is my Blade question

I have a few questions concerning the use of this card, if I use it on someone who has the celestial sword and we switch the forces (he has 2, I have 20000000000). Does the sword gain back the force from the trait?

GE rulebook p. 32:

] It is possible to set a card's value directly to a particular ] number. Do not apply any bonuses or penalties already in effect ] to this new number -- in essence, they're already part of ] it. Do apply any later changes as you normally would

Does the force from the sword stay with the sword (ie, I gain it but it stays with his personality also)?

The Force of the Sword itself does not change. You have set a new total for the current Force of your opponent's Personality: 2. You have not altered the individual Forces of any cards or any existing bonuses.

As a side question though, say I play nemesis on okakura, I IArt the other 3 chi personality that is now his nemesis. Is this allowed or does the chi bonus apply in the challenging aspect of the duel also?

You do not get the Chi bonus until your and her nemesis are in the duel. Challenges happen before duels begin. [GE p. 61] Also, targets are picked before effects happen, so only the target's Chi before you play Iaijutsu Art matters.

2 Questions

No, still not right. You're assuming that C is even asked whether he wants to perform an action; he's not. Nobody is talking about presence or relevance here. It just NEVER becomes his turn to take a battle or open action. It's in the rulebook - the sequence of events in an attack phase depends on whether or not allies were invited.

This is incorrect. GE rulebook p. 53:

] Starting with the Defender and going clockwise, each player ] must either take one Open action, take one Battle action, or ] pass (see "Actions" on page 47). The Battle Action Segment ] continues until all players pass consecutively.

"Each player" gets the option to act, not just the Attacker, Defender, and allies. The Rules of Presence and Relevance make no such restrictions either. The Rule of Presence says you have to be "involved", but that doesn't mean invited -- it means you meet one of the criteria that it goes on to list a sentence later.

Radakast Exp2 KYD

The Naga Radakast exp2 from the KYD set does destroy human personalities?

No. The target must be Nonhuman and not a Naga.
