1) I take a province and bow famous poet to gain three honor? lose 3 honor? or gain 4 honor?
Lose 3. The gain came from the Poet.

Does Walking the way target the card it's going to fetch? I would think it has too...does that mean I can use ring of air to redirect to a different card? (of my choice!)
Effects that let you search your deck for a card don't target the card found. It's a long-standing, semi-arbitrary ruling that makes combos like this a lot less troublesome.

Can the Test be used against Ekiken? I do not think so, due to the fact that when units are assigning, they are not in a battle just yet.
It's a close call, but I'm going to agree with you.
Doesn't the word "after" in Ekiken's ability imply that the personality is already assigned to the battle, and thus *in* the battle?
The issue is the extreme overloading of the word "battle". Yes, he's at a Province already, but is he in a battle? The rulebook says that Personalities assign to Provinces in the Infantry and Cavalry segments; it does not say "the battles begin" until the Battle Action Segment.

Ok,
A friend in my local play area is asking difficult questions this weekend.
1.
Is Akasha considered a Creature and Human? She has the Traits Legacy of the Naga and Human.
She wouldn't be a Creature in any event -- Naga are only Nonhuman.
The answer, though, is "no". A card cannot be both Human and Nonhuman at the same time.
2. Does Shosuro Tech target the personality who the bonus is being copied from?
The Battle action does.
