Question for Jeff

This is a silly question but I wanted to double check. Is playing a card (as I. duel) the same as bringing a card into play (as marketplace)? Real Question:

Yes.

the new holding from FOU, I believe it is called imperial advisor, it increases the honor loss for an opponent PLAYING a card that causes an honor loss by the original loss or the opponent may discard the card with no effect.

That would be Imperial Messenger. Check.

I have one IA unbowed and in play and my opponent plays a Kolat Assassin I bow the IA and he takes an 8 pt. honor loss and the K. Assassin kills the target. Now if I have 2 IA's in play and I use them both he loses 12 honor correct, not 16 honor?

Correct. Imperial Messenger increases the loss by the PRINTED amount. [card text] Each one used will increase the loss by 4.

Back to my original question, if my opponent brings a corrupted iron mine into play can I use IA to increase the loss?

Yes.

Rulz Qwestyuns

1) Can "defend your honor" be used in reaction to "Winds Truth"?

Not against the Wind's Truth itself, no -- Wind's Truth does not create an honor loss. However, if The Wind's Truth is used to redirect a loss from an appropriate source to you, you could then use Defend Your Honor against the actual source.

2) Can the Snow crane tattoo be used in duels that don't involve the bearer.

Yes.

3) Can someone play"run him down" in response to a Iajustsu Duel after the personality has been targeted by "Test of Courage".

Yes. Run Him Down does not target your Personality.

4) Can you bow a trading grounds in play to attach 4 tokens to moneylender which is also in play,or would it only get one?

You are not paying the Gold cost of a Holding when you are recharging a Moneylender -- you are paying the Gold cost of an action. Trading Grounds will only produce 1.

Almost never. Wear Him Down cannot be played during Iaijutsu Art if you have already focused, as it would be your second focus, which you can't make. The only way it can give you one more focus than normal is if you played Iaijutsu Art and your opponent was forced to strike due to having no legal focuses.

Jeff, that also aplies to any otehr card that is played "as a focus"

Yes.

like bend like a reed or "Strike with no though"?

No. Those two cards are not played "as a focus". They cause some value to add to your duelist following all the rules that focus cards do -- the Double Chi trait works on them, and they add to the stat used in the duel even when it's not Chi -- but they are not actually focused.

vengeful dead/Kaneka

c) A metagame effect similar to "you may have up to six copies of this card in your deck". The Event does not need to resolve for this text to take hold.

So if the event is revealed as per Akodo Kaneka's ability, it can still go back into the Dynasty deck and/or resolve? Or does the Kaneka's restriction take precedence?

The last sentence on Vengeful Dead makes it an exception to the GE rulebook rule on page 28 that each Event resolves only once per game. Nothing more. It does not mean it resolves when exposed

outside the Events Phase.

Found an odd card in a pack

I've only started playing around the time of A perfect cut. I've recently gotten my hand on a box of fire and shadow and honor bound. One of the cards Shioda Has in the bottom left corner in gold foil print "clan war saga". I was wondering what is the sinifigance or is it just a older version of a foiled rare?

A total of 100 cards from earlier expansions were stamped with that seal and inserted in place of random Commons in the Honor Bound, Ambition's Debt, and Fire & Shadow expansions. They presented a challenge to avid collectors, their flavor texts were used for additional story space, and they added desired cards to the Strict Jade tournament format.

Rules question

If a player uses Show of Good Faith on a personality, may he "attach" cards (ie. playing a follower from your hand)to the new personality?

Yes.

big o' rules question!!!

1- are unaligned ninja's allied with the "ninja" clan

Yes. From the FAQ (http://l5r.alderac.com/ccg/faq.html) :

] * "Unaligned" is not an alignment itself, and it does not affect ] what Factions a Personality is aligned with. It may even appear on a ] card along with Faction traits. ] ] * "Unaligned" and "not aligned with any Faction" do not mean the ] same thing. It is possible for a Personality to fit only one of these ] two categories. A Personality is Unaligned if she has the "Unaligned" ] trait, while a Personality is not aligned with any Faction if she ] completely lacks all the traits listed in the rulebook as Faction ] alignments.

2- if i copy a person's force with a scorpion actor(forgot her name) does it change with more spells or actions the opposing player does to it or does it stay as what it was when i copied it?

It stays what it was when you copied it. [GE p. 37]
