Rules for 30 November 2002

Zen Faulkes, sent 30 November 2002 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

A small reminder: I don't answer rules questions by private e-mail. This is partly to prevent me from getting swamped, and partly because I like other people being able to double check what I say.

Rules for 28 November 2002

If I re-direct an action to a new personality who becomes bowed as part of the redirection is the action targetting a bowed Personality now? And if so could I cancel it with a card that cancels actions targetting a bowed personality?

Yes. Yes.

Trait duration

If I give something a Trait (such as Naval or Tactician) and the duration is not specified, does it only stay until the end of the turn (as with bonuses/penalties) or is it permanent?

Fully spelled out in bold type in the Dark Allies rules, pg 43. End of turn.

FOU Question

is YU considered a fearcausing effect?

No. (Is this a trick question?)

I *think* these were the new questions in here... Hard to tell, because:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

I don't want to go off on a rant here, but please post in plain text, not HTML or MIME or any other formatted text. Formatted text is a nightmare to read for us digest readers.

post for 27 November 2002

If I move Tachiyama into an empty province, then back, his bonus is reapplied, as he was not opposed, then opposed again, making it an entirely new bonus, correct?

Yes. See Archive, general rules, Bonuses and Penalties.

Umm why not "it would only be consistent to rule that there is no moment of time, not even a tiny one, where your turn has begun but In Time of War hasn't checked your Honor yet"? What determines which continuous effect resolves first?

In general, the third cardinal rule (Dark Allies rules, pg. 5).

OT: Thanksgiving

Actually, I'm surprised that we're still allowed to celebrate Thanksgiving given that it grew out of how the Native Americans saved the lives of the original Plymouth colonists be teaching them how to survive in America.

Off topic: The origins of Thanksgiving in North America are fairly complex. The first Thanksgiving in North America was held in Canada, for instance, four decades before Plymouth Rock. See these sites:
