A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Likewise, if something gives you 3 Honor at the start of your turn, it would only be consistant to rule that there is no moment of time, not even a tiny one, where your turn has begun but you haven't gotten that 3 Honor yet. Thus that gain will always sneak in before In Time of War makes its check of your Family Honor, adds 5, and sets its cap.
First - this means the player can win by Honor through this, right?
Yes. This ruling has already been made.
Second - I still find the logic here a bit strange. In Time of War doesn't check your Honor at the start of your turn - it just won't let you end a turn more than 5 higher than your started it.
It has to know what your Family Honor was at the start of the turn in order to do that, no?
Dueling with Double chi and strange traits on Cards
Yes, APC is a _stupid_ card. The designers must have been smoking M:TG cards when they thought it up. It's an automatic win if you get to focus with it. How about comparing a card like this with it's closest equivalent, Kharmic Strike, before loosing it on the play environment. It is THE most broken gold-legal fate card! Yes, I do think it's more broken than Importune Kami.
How is it "an automatic win"? Your opponent gets at least one focus as well, which means you'll lose if his focus meets or exceeds YOUR duelist's Chi, which is possible without any tricks at all if your duelist has a Chi below 6. And then there's Mirumoto Ukira, Snow Crane Tattoo, Bend Like a Reed, Poisoned Weapon...
It's hardly superior to Kharmic Strike in every way.
Omoidasu
The wording on Omoidasu is a little unclear, but it seems that it bows after the battle, so if you want to gain two honour after destroying a province, you have to Rally, right?
You bow it after the destruction [card text], not after resolution. You don't have to rally.
A couple of questions
1. Are the printed in the box Stronghold legal for tournaments as were before gold edition? Are they considered the original stronghold?
You can use the Stronghold printed on the box or the card.
2. If I have in play
Mirumoto Zenko Dragon Clan Samurai. Zenko may attach two Weapons. Reduce the Focus values of all cards Focused against Zenko in duels by the number of Weapons he has (to a minimum of 0).
with two weapons, one of wich is:
Shinsei's Staff Costs 2 less gold when attaching to a monk. Reaction: Bow Shinsei's staff after this personality enters a duel. For the rest of the duel, reduce your opponent's focus value to 3 if they are above three.
And my opponent plays a Focus 5 in a duel against him. How much does his Focus aport to his Chi? one?
One.
FOU Question: Glick and Shiba Takeishi
Quick question Re: some FOU stuff.
I have 2 copies of Glick in play, loyal to the Phoenix Clan through Creating the Monkey Clan. I have used Inspiration on each of them this turn.
I also have a copy of Shiba Takeishi in play.
If one of the Glicks is destroyed, Takeishi gains +1/+1. I then destroy the other Glick to return the original to play, unbowed, beacuse of Inspiration. Takeishi gains another +1/+1.
Can I repeat the Glick-for-Glick exchange, with Takeishi gaining +1/+1 for each time a Glick is destroyed, ad nauseam?
If so, do I lose 3 Honor every time a Glick is returned to play (since that's his honor hit for entering play)?
Okay, here's my take on the combo: Inspiration does not stop Glick from entering play bowed because at no time does he switch from being unbowed to being bowed (cards not in play are neither bowed nor unbowed)

No. In Search alters the way his Force bonus is calculated, changing it from "half the number of cards in the opposing player's hand, rounded down" to simply "0". While Tachiyama remains opposed in that situation, his trait will give him +0F regardless of how many cards the opposing player holds.
So If I move Tachiyama into an empty province & then back, his bonus is reapplied, as he was not opposed & then opposed again, making it an entirely new bonus, correct?
Correct.
Likewise, if something gives you 3 Honor at the start of your turn, Thus that gain will always sneak in before In Time of War makes its check of your Family Honor, adds 5, and sets its cap.
Umm why not "it would only be consistent to rule that there is no moment of time, not even a tiny one, where your turn has begun but In Time of War hasn't checked your Honor yet"?
That would NOT be consistant with the ruling that a zero gold Geisha Assassin always gets +1C from Fortress of the Dragonfly before she dies from having 0 Chi.
Rules questions
About "Death of onnotangu", does a player win if he has all 3 items attached to different versions of hitomi or must it be the same card?
The same.
Disappointment over "The Fall" aka The Fall of Five Rings
I typically play Unicorn and Phoenix. I saw and heard the same comment at our pre-release after it was over that the quality rares were not unique ala Warlord. I.E. the new Crab guy,Tatzso (name may be mispelled),
Crab got NO uniques in this set, on purpose. They are still in need of cards to help their non-corrupt military strategies, and it wouldn't help their decks enough if they started getting supremely nice Personalities that were unique and could only go into their decks once. (Mantis only got a Unique because we don't want non-Unique Clan Deck cards.) Tatsuzo got chosen as the rare due to his Gold cost. Higher cost = greater rarity since expensive cards get put into decks less often then cheap ones.
Traveling Ronin and some other things I can't remember straight up.
Traveling Ronin, a power card? It's a card with a neat trick. Veteran Samurai, Untested Troops, and Heavy Infantry are all more desirable from where I sit.
There is no ONE Card in this set.
I don't want there to be "ONE Card" in each set. (Or maybe I do. My job would be so much easier if I only had to make one real card and 149 coasters.)
My overall opinion of the previous sets looking back in retrospec, there hasn't been a single card in any set since Ki Rin's Shrine that has been highly sought after as a single.
There was an incredible run on Veteran Samurai right after it came out. Other posters have mentioned other cards they've seen sell hot in their areas.
FOU rules question - Far and Wide
I have a question on Far and Wide:
This action card reads : Limited: Bring a face-up Region in one of your Provinces into play and attach it to that Province if that region is different from all other Regions already attached to the Province. You must pay any cost of bringing the Region into play.
My confusion came in the rules which say that each Provinces can have one region. Does this card breaks that rule and allow multi-region to be attached to one province?
Yes.
Rules question...
A quick question about Corruption's Price.. it reads:
Reaction: Play after a Shadowlands Holding becomes bowed to destroy that Holding and either a non-Shadowlands Personality or a Jade card controlled by the Holding's controller.
So, is a holding considered to be "becoming bowed" when it's comming into play? Or just when it's bowed otherwise?
Just when it's bowed otherwise.
Tsuruchi Hiro
Speaking of MRP, the MRP of Gifts and Favor is stupid and redundant, if somebody forgets that they discarded one earlier in the game, they can automatically lose.
The extra phrase was added to cut down on abuse by unscrupulous players. Given the highly unusual nature of G&F's ability, this MRP was the best way to enforce the ruling made by Dave Williams on September 19th that using the ability when you know there are none in your deck is illegal and forbidden.
question
According to the following rule; if Tadakaís Last Wish copies Tsukuneís ability, does he need to bow to target himself when he gives himself the Tactician or Double Chi trait?
Yes. The relevant text becomes, "Tadaka's Last Wish need not bow if it targets a Shiba Tsukune with this action."
Question
Does Tsuno Blade get a bonus from Nikushimi and add to Tsuno Nintai's ability?
Yes.
Rules question
Shiryo no Taisa Lion Clan Ancestor*Unique Reaction: When a player takes an action before the Defender's first action during a battle containing this unit, cancel that action.
My question is, If I´m the defender and I have more force than my opponent, If I pass at my first oportunity to take a battle or open action, can I use the reaction to cancel my opponents first action?
No. Taisa can only cancel an action before the Defender's first opportunity to take a Battle or Open action.
FOU
[KAI] I'm seeing a big trend in the cards to move Horde away from unstopable blitz attack towards unmatchable mid- / late-game military menace. It is a nice change of pace, but things like the Maw and Ashura frightened me. Kyofu + 10F Ogre Hag is just ... nauseating.
Kyofu is a 10g unique card. Ogre Hag is an 8g card that bites outside of combos. There SHOULD be some reward for risking that high an opportunity cost.
Fu Leng and his clones
I have a very silly question. Imagine the following situation : I play monk. I bring Hantei the 38th in play. Then, i play Oath of Fealty and attache Shiryo No Tetsuya to him. So now, his name is "Hantei the 39th", and he is unique. Is my Shadowland opponent allowed to bring his "Hantei the 39th" in play ?
Currently, yes.
