A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Another Time errata?
No. Another Time shouldn't use the word "cancel" -- that's an improper use of the term. Another Time ends the duel immediately, without resolution.
I'm sorry Jeff, but this is a functional change of the card. It has canceled duels since its inception, and the wording of it has not changed more than cosmetically since it was printed, and "cancel" is on the Gold edition version.
Is this official Errata to Another Time???
Sure. Whatever makes you happiest.
And the function hasn't really changed. When Another Time was originally written, the terms "cancel", "negate", and "prevent" were all used rather interchangeably, and the exact meaning depended more on context than anything else. These words have far more rigid definitions these days, and Another Time -- yes, even the Gold Edition version -- uses one of them incorrectly. As Zen points out, it is not technically possible to "cancel" just the duel. Canceling is something that can only be done to entire actions and Events. Believe it or not, I'm actually confirming that it still works like it always did.
follower chi
If a follower for some reason goes from 0 to higher chi [eg. Dojo Raiden, are there others, I think there are...], do they keep that chi to themselves or is it added to the personality they are attached to?
Rulebook time! GE version, page 32:
] Followers add their Force and Chi directly to the Personality ] only when their own stats have "+" signs. Otherwise, they add ] their values to their unit's total instead.
I love answering questions two and a half years before they're asked. :)
questions to FOU answers
I've got a big, fat, happy stack of Fall of Otosan Uchi cards sitting on my desk right now, so I suppose I can go ahead and start answering all these questions I've been holding onto...
Here is mine. I play with Kyuden Doji and have Fortress of Dragonfly out, can I play Geisha Assassin for 0 gold to have a 1C personality challenge another personality, or does she die before the Fortress's bous apply to her?
She gets the +1C before she dies.
And just to check, if I switch her for another personality in a duel, that other personality can focus as Geisha Assassin reads that she can't.
Yes, if you swap someone else in, the prohibition against the geisha focusing does not affect the new duelist.

It is on the card, but, contrary to the Gold Edition rulebook, it's not PRINTED on the card. This errata, and is in both the current FAQ and the upcoming Fall of Otosan Uchi rulesheet.
So, since Dojo Raiden states numbers "on" the follower, would Hiro's non-Ranged followers that gain "Battle: Bow for a Ranged 1 attack." now have a Ranged 2 attack?
Yes. Hiro puts an ability onto their card, and that ability's text contains a numeral.
If so, does this effect Tsuruchi Yutaka's follower that can perform the action "Battle: Bow for a Ranged 2 attack."?
No. That action is on Yutaka, not given to his Follower.
Fall questions
1.) Timing of gold payment versus action declaration. Which happens first again? Do I generate gold and THEN play my action, or play my action and THEN generate gold?
Announce, then pick targets, then pay costs, then take the action.
Because if gold payment comes first, it looks like I can play Recruiting Drive, generate six gold for a Follower by bowing a Trade Hub and discarding a Veteran Samurai, and then use the gold to pay for the Veteran Samurai I just discarded.
I agree with you. That looks legal. I'll see what the Rules Team wants to do about it.
2.) You said that the Ranged Attack Hiro gives his followers is ON the card, but not PRINTED on the card. Thus, Dojo Raiden would increase the RA of his followers to whom he has given a Ranged 1, because the card doesn't specify "printed"?
Already answered, but, yes.
3.) Moneylender is a variable-cost holding and thus doesn't gain the bonus from Shiro Ide, correct?
It does not gain the bonus.
4.) I know Moshi Hinome's ability to place Aura tokens on a Personality targets. Does the *removal* of those tokens target?
By past precedent with other rulings, it does not target the Personality they're on.
Code of Bushido Question
Can Code of Bushido be used to cancel a Poisened Weapon or Ambush- provided obviously a samurai is used in the duel or battle?
No and no. Neither of those actions are "taken" by the Samurai.
