A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Rules query-Hidden Heart of Iuchiban.
I believe this was answered some time ago, but I had difficulties finding it.(ie, I couldn't)
The Hidden Heart says: Costs 2 less gold for Junzo's Army players.
Should this be construed as 2 less gold for all shadowlands players or just for the Junzo stronghold?
According to the archive, it applies to all Shadowlands faction players.
Some rules questions
2. Can these be overconfidenced?
Overconfidence specifies a force bonus from an Action.
Not by the Most Recent Printing, it doesn't.

Ah, first question Can Tsukiro target a personality with followers attached? Or must he destroy all the followers with the ranged attacks before he targets the peep? I'm guessing no because the card says "simultaneous ranged 3 attacks ".
You guess correctly.
Wait, I'm completely confused here. Which part are we guessing no to?
Um... You tell me. It's your guess.
Seriously, I associated the "no" with the first question I saw, which was, "Can Tsukiro target a personality with followers attached?" I didn't realize there were two yes/no questions presented.
No, he can't target, or no, he doesn't have to destroy all of the followers?
He cannot target a Personality and Followers at the same time under normal circumstances.
2) Suppose player A uses an action that could target his own or the player B's personalities. Player B uses Shinjo Technique to redirect to one of player A's. Can player A now use Shinjo Technique to send it back again? We ruled "no" based on the fact that when player B targets the action, he no longer has a choice of both players, therefore when player A tries to Shinjo there are no legal targets for B.
That would be the correct ruling.
3) Kanokitchek and Snak are in a battle together. Snak gets a Shosuro Technique to match a 6F personality in the opposing army. a) If Kanoktichek leaves the battle, is Snak a 6F or 5F?
If someone is 6F and then loses a +1F bonus, he drops to 5F.
Questions from Tourney
Interaction problems for the aged-challenged, that would be me.
Hida Kosho's Duel vs. Strong Guard reaction - Does Strong Guard negate the entire duel or the refusal go home?
Only his movement home.
If a personality is already dishonored, can they use Strong Guard's reaction?
No. As written, it's a cost.
Blackened sky & Yoritomo technique
Q1
When you play blackened sky, can you also play Sting of the Wasp before your opponent makes his turn?
No. Sting of the Wasp does not produce ranged attacks -- it allows other cards to produce them when they normally could not.
Q2
When you play Yoritomo technique, switching doesn't necessarily mean, your other personality must have a follower?
Correct. You may move your Followers freely. You don't have to do one-for-one exchanges.
I need Explain: Faith In My Clan Vs Ralling Cry
Faith In My Clan can be played if you have an army anywhere on the board that contains one of your Clan Champions. It can't cancel a Rally after the very last battle, but it might be able to cancel one at an earlier battle.
Jeff I don't understand why: It can't cancel a Rally after the very last battle
You're right. I was speaking of the general case as if it were the only case. There are rare situations where you can still have an army somewhere as the Attacker after the last battle has resolved, and in those cases, the criterion for playing Faith In My Clan may be satisfied. Sorry for the confusion.
Questions
* Can bayushi sunetra move to another province if she is bowed?
No. Actions on bowed cards and Strongholds cannot be used unless they say otherwise or they straighten that card or Stronghold. [GE p. 24]
* Can a personality use his tactician trait after you straighten him with inner fire?
No. Using a Personality's Tactician trait for an action targets that Personality. [GE p. 65] This is a change from before Gold Edition.
* Player A activates Isawa´s last wish and targets one of your personalities and destroys it, you destroy your opponent´s personality that had the wish, can that player use Faith in my Clan to negate the destruction of his personality but not negating the destruction of your personality?
No. Faith In My Clan must be played as soon as an action is taken, which is before it has done anything. He cannot play Faith In My Clan part-way through to cancel only parts of it.
Note, though, that if he has a Reaction that is played when one of his Personalities is TARGETED (like the Towers of the Asako), not when an action is taken, he can cancel the Wish's action after it has destroyed your Personality but before you destroy one of his.
* Is an action an ability on a Card?
No, it's the opposite: an ability is an action on a card. An action is anything preceeded by "Limited", "Open", "Battle", or "Reaction". [GE p. 33]
* Can you use faith in my clan to negate any ability or action printed on a card, or only use it against action cards?
Any action.
* What happens if you use honor lesson dojo to play a mushin from your hand?
You take two Battle and/or Open actions after the Mushin.
* Do you get to take any number of Range attacks if you play Blackened Sky with honor lesson dojo?
Yes.
* Do you get to use any number of action´s that are considered to be the use of a personality tactician trait, if you activate Signal Corps with honor lesson dojo in a battle?
Yes.

Dark Lord's Favor
Here's the setup.
It's your opponent's turn. You have Toku on the table.
Can you use Dark Lord's Favor to take the 7 Honor Loss, as an Open action dishonor Toku, and then seppuku him to knock the honor loss on the head?
Yes.
I am probably being nitpicky here, but the honor loss and being dishonored are two separate sentences, and as such, don't happen at the same time, correct?
Correct.
So the scenario runs more like this...
1) Lose 7 honor. Does Toku commit sep? No, lose the 7 honor.
2) Use the Open Action, Toku is dishonored. Does Toku commit sep? Yes, Toku dies honorably.
Samurai cannot commit their inherent seppuku to becoming dishonored -- only to being involved in an honor loss. Toku cannot seppuku at step 2.
Also, by the rulebook, samurai commit seppuku upon being targeted by an action, taking an action, or making a decision that will result in a loss. Toku has to seppuku as soon as he is targeted by Dark Lord's Favor, which is in plenty of time to catch and reduce the 7 point loss.
So then Toku would commit seppuku before the "dishonor Toku" effect occurred, right? The 7 pt loss happens before the dishonoring, as it is printed first on the card.
Yes, though it shouldn't matter. Seppuku also negates any dishonoring to the Personality coming from the same source as the honor loss. I *thought* this was in the Dark Allies rulebook. Apparently I'm mistaken.

Dark Lord's Favor
Here's the setup.
It's your opponent's turn. You have Toku on the table.
Can you use Dark Lord's Favor to take the 7 Honor Loss, as an Open action dishonor Toku, and then seppuku him to knock the honor loss on the head?
Yes.
I play Iaijutsu Challenge, choosing a samurai as the challenger, my opponent refuses, and redirects the honor loss to me. I have my samurai commit seppuku, which reduces the loss to 1, and prevents any loss from dying dishonorably, if he was. I have a samurai which is being targeted by an action which is causing me an honor loss, just as in Knevitt's post. Am I correct about all this?
Yes.
