question

A follow up to this question is can [Moto Kumari] use his ability if he is moved into the battle by an action that is used after you use Honors Lesson Dojo??

Sure. Why not?

Dark Lord's Favor Q

Dark Lord's Favor

Here's the setup.

It's your opponent's turn. You have Toku on the table.

Can you use Dark Lord's Favor to take the 7 Honor Loss, as an Open action dishonor Toku, and then seppuku him to knock the honor loss on the head?

Yes.

Chithith / Spells Question

Hey Jeff,

I've got a question for you regarding the new Ratling Shugenja from 1,000 Years of Darkness.

This little critter has the trait: Creature Cards in Chithith's unit may not be targeted by Spells or Kihos unless he has a non-Ratling Follower.

So, the local ratling player want to know how this trait interacts with this shugenja's ability to play Spells and Kiho.

I need a little carification on exactly what is considered to be targeting for when this fuzzy person has no non-Ratling Followers attached.

First off, I know that this Rat can't cast Kiho in such a state. Kiho target their caster.

That's an oversight, actually. I'll see what the Rules Team wants to do about it.

Secondly, Chithith can't be the target of a cast spell or kiho.

Now, this part I'm shaky on:

Chithith CAN attach spells. Attaching is not an action or effect of the or performed by the attaching card, but a rulebook action performed by the player.

The real question I have trouble with is, "Can Chithith CAST spells?"

Yes.

Basically, I need some clarifiation on how attached cards with actions target when their personality performs their action for them.

1 - Do attached cards target their personality when he or she is performing their action?

No, though their effects might.

2 - Do abilities on cards in play target other cards that need to do X or Y as part of the cost to play the action? (ex. Shugenja bowing to cast a Spell, a personality with 3PH bowing for Temple of the Ancestors)

No and yes.

Jester Q

Is refusing an I. Challenge's honor loss caused by their card? or your action?

The loss is caused by the challenging player's card, the challenging player's action, and the challenged player's decision. [card text] Which matters most depends on what you're trying to respond with.

Question

If I attack a Province and my opponent defends and I win the battle and have enough force to destroy the Province but instead use the reaction from the Armor of Osano-Wo to put the Ring of Earth into play could I then play Pointless Sacrifice pay the eight gold and destroy the Province?

Yes.

Or the opposite, if I win the battle and do not have enough Force to destroy the Province could I play Pointless Sacrifice to desrtoy the Province and then use the Armor of Osano-Wo to not destroy the Province and play the Ring of Earth

Yes.

This is in the FAQ. Reactions to units leaving a battle cannot be played in response to units going to their controllers' homes because a battle ended prematurely.

=== Actually, the question came up because Flattery says "... AND send all units home without bowing." (emphasis mine) rather than having another sentence say "All units go home without bowing."

The ruling still applies.

=== That's what we figured. :-)

New Q reversing the situation somewhat: If the attacker plays Flattery (battle went bad), can the defender play A Test of Courage since Flattery is sending his personalities home?

It's still the same answer, no matter how many ways you ask the question: no.
