A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
More Questions
1) Where do I find the rules for submitting card ideas to Alderac?
Send them to me in private email, at jalexander@alderac.com. Include the following disclaimer:
I, ______________, understand and agree to the following terms:
Unsolicited artwork, story lines, character developments and other intellectual property (collectively "work") received by AEG is considered a gift of all the donor's rights, title and interest in and to the Work (including copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights) which Work is given to AEG for no consideration, and becomes the property of AEG. AEG is in no way responsible to pay any transfer fees, licensing fees, royalties or any other consideration to the donor. Based on the above understanding, I hereby submit the enclosed Work.
2) Once I submit an idea, I'm guessing I give up the rights to it. Can I still post the idea in public forums?
No. That leads to the same problem.
3) Concerning Corruption's Price: Can I use this to nuke a Shadowlands holding as it's being bowed even if the opposing player doesn't control a Jade card or a non-Shadowlands personality?
The additional destruction is not an optional effect, and it requires a target. Without a target, the whole action is illegal.

Was there a ruling reached on this yet?
Does starting the game with a card or effect "in play" trigger entering play effects as the game begins?
Yes. It does trigger entering-play effects.
Tamori Tsukiro Preview!
Ah, first question Can Tsukiro target a personality with followers attached? Or must he destroy all the followers with the ranged attacks before he targets the peep? I'm guessing no because the card says "simultaneous ranged 3 attacks ".
You guess correctly.
Matsu Reishiko
Shouldn't her discarding a card ability be a reaction?
No need. It works just fine the way it is.

This is in the FAQ. Reactions to units leaving a battle cannot be played in response to units going to their controllers' homes because a battle ended prematurely.
=== Actually, the question came up because Flattery says "... AND send all units home without bowing." (emphasis mine) rather than having another sentence say "All units go home without bowing."
The ruling still applies.
Matsu Reishiko
The real question, however, is what happens if they can not discard a card?
Nothing is discarded. The discard is not an added cost of moving, so the movement is still allowed.
question
Moto Kumari Unicorn Clan Raider. Cavalry Reaction: After moving into a battle with an action, Kumari issues an unrefusable challenge to an opposing Personality.
If Kumari is at province 1 while that battle is taking place and is moved into a battle at province 2 which has not begun, does he get take his reaction against an opposing Personality even though the battle at province 1 is still going on?
Yes.
I would think no because the rules states that a player can take only actions associated with the current battle
That applies to Open and Battle actions only. [BB rules]
and if a Reaction changes an action's target so that the target no longer meets the action's targeting requirements, the action does not affect the target.
This is completely unrelated to the question at hand. No reactions are changing anything.
Ranged attack questions
So I'm trying to make a ranged attack Mantis deck (it's been a while), and a few questions arose whilst doing so.
1) While Annekusai's Feathers says "The Personality may not use that Ranged Attack ability again in this battle", does that imply that the personality could not contribute to a combined ranged attack? Ex - Tsuruchi Hiro with Elite Spearmen. He makes his Ranged 4, using the Feathers to stay unbowed. Can the Elite Spearmen then make a ranged attack with his Ranged 4 added in or not?
No. If he can't use his Ranged 4 Attack, he certainly can't add it into another card's attack to make a combined one.
2) The Great Climb states that "your cards need not bow to produce ranged attacks but may use each ranged attack action only once during this effect". Would this override the requirement to bow a shugenja for a ranged attack spell such as Cascading Fire?
Yes.
If so, would the shugenja be able to cast each effect of Cascading Fire once, generating a ranged 6, two ranged 3 and 6 ranged 1 attacks?
Yes.
3) If Deadly Ground is in play, can a terrain under the Armor of Sun Tao be played to destroy it, or is that a secondary effect and not playable?
It's playable. Deadly Ground's destruction is a stated effect of the Armor's Battle action.

Can " fall on your knees " cancel " pick your battles" ?
No. Pick Your Battles is not played in the Battle Action Segment. "Battle resolution is the only time the phrase 'destroying an army' is satisfied." [GE rulebook]
Can you "Fall on Your Knees" a "Rallying Cry"? Can you "Faith in my Clan" a "Rallyiing Cry"?
Let's read the cards:
Fall on Your Knees Reaction: Play this card when a player plays a Reaction during the Battle Action Segment. Cancel the Reaction.
Faith In My Clan You may play this card only if a Clan Champion from your Faction is in your army. Reaction: Cancel an action.
Rallying Cry Reaction: Play this card after a Resolution Segment. Your units in the battle do not become bowed by the combat.
Fall On Your Knees can't cancel Rallying Cry because Rallying Cry is played during the wrong Segment.
Faith In My Clan can be played if you have an army anywhere on the board that contains one of your Clan Champions. It can't cancel a Rally after the very last battle, but it might be able to cancel one at an earlier battle.
