Here are some questions on everyone's favorite hantei the 39th:
If you force of will him (no 12th black scroll destroyed) he has 0 chi and 10 personal honor, and dies. per card text he is sent home bowed instead, but as FoW lasts until the end of turn, he will die again, in an infinite succession. how should this be handeled in tourneys? just leave him bowed until the end of turn?
Correct.
If someone wasting diseases him and makes him 0 chi with the -2 chi tokens, does he get to remove one when he places the last one?
Only if Hantei the 39th really dies, in which case it's probably irrelevant. If he does not die, no corruption tokens are lost.
do the tokes get lost when he dies for the 1st time, or he gets locked in an infinite loop again?
They are not lost because he does not die.
What happens to attached cards when he gets destroyed outside of a battle? do they get discarded, destroyed or remain?
They'd remain because he does not die.
rules question
Assuming I have a peep defending province one, and opposing peeps are attacking province one and two. Attack on province two then resolves first (attacker says so). I know that I can SupTac into province two (given that my peep has a high enough chi). So, my peep moves to province two, defends (in the process, uses his tactician ability) and as the battle resolves he wins the battle. I also know that he stays in the province even after the battle has resolved and that his tactician bonus stays until the end of the current turn. My question is, can my peep now again use SupTac (assuming I have another in my hand) to move into province one, defend again, and use his tactician ability again?
Yes, once the battle at Province One commences. You can't play Superior Tactics in Province Two after Province Two resolves.
Peeps can move _into_ provinces whose battle has resolved right? But can they move _out_ of one and into another whose battle is taking place?
Yes and yes.
post for 1 November 2002-berserker rage. / Just checking.
if i beserker rage utaemon, then in my next available action can i use command group on him?.
Sure. Berserker Rage changes his current Force, so the number it changes it to is the number used by Command Group.
Just to nitpick you Jeff, but Berserker Rage uses PRINTED force, not CURRENT force. That is a HUGE difference with Utaemon.
Nitpickin' right back atcha! Berserker Rage uses printed Force as the basis of its calculation, true, but I said "changes", not "uses". Berserker Rage will change Utaemon's current Force, unless it happens to be 12 already...and because Command Group uses current Force, its effect will be different if played subsequent to the Rage.
Q: Chukandomo & Kisada Shrine
Situation:
Kisada Shrine bowed, Hida Kosho (or other peep with YU) dishonored with Chukandomo.
Straighten fase: Straighten your Stronghold and all of your cards in play. Q: May I straight the shrine (first), destroy Kosho instead of straightening him (see chukandomo) (second) and use Kisada Shrine to return Kosho to play, bowed, in my home?
It really doesn't matter. Even if you straighten everything simultaneously, Kisada's Shrine is used after Kosho dies, so it would straighten and Kosho would die at the same time, then you could use the Shrine.
Q2: If answer is 'yes', I asume that I may not straight Kosho in this Straighten fase, right?
Correct.
Type Action Title Pick Your Battles Rarity/Edition 1000 Years of Darkness Text Reaction: Play before your army is destroyed for losing or tying in a battle. Only one unit of your choice in your army is destroyed. The rest return to their controller's homes, bowed. Your opponent in the battle still gains honor as if your entire army had been destroyed. Gold 0 Focus 2
How well will this combo with the yu trait. It seems to me with the way that I am reading it that I can dish out my yu and still save my army. Since destruction is not a requirment of the yu trait. I could play this right before they are killed but after I do my yu.
You are correct. The trigger for activating the Yu trait is losing (not tying) a battle. Your units do not actually have to die, so sparing them does not deprive you of their return destruction.
Ratings, tournament control and Teams [Ryan] - Joel
Wait...the OP system ELO rating isn't even using a K-Value right now? That's preposterous. So you could play someone with a 0-100 record over and over again. winning every time, and get the same number of points as you would every game? What's the difference from that and actual record then. And do you loose points if you loose a game? Could someone explain.
Beating someone with a higher ELO score makes your score go up a lot. Beating someone with a lower score makes your score go up a little. Losing to someone with a lower score makes your score go down a lot. Losing to someone with a higher score makes your score go down a little. The K value sits in the background and multiplies all gains and losses, so everyone gains or loses twice as many points, or half as many, or triple, or one-tenth, or whatever other multiple the record-keeping agency wishes to impose.
The first time you played against that 0-100 player and won, you would gain a TINY amount of points, because that player's ELO score will be terrible. The next time you played him, he'd be 0-101 with an even lower ELO score, and the bonus you'd receive would be even smaller than the one you got last time by a tiny bit. It's very different from your win/loss record, where every win is worth one point in your "Wins" field and every loss is worth one point in your "Losses" field.
