Rule question : moving personalities from home

I would like to know if there is any rule that prevent a personality from moving from home to a battle when it is not clearly written on the cation creating the movement that you move the personality from home...

No. There is a rule that a card that says "this battle" must already be present in the battle for the action to be legal, but that does not apply in this case. A card that can move into "the current battle" can normally do so from anywhere.

Well ok, it's a bit confusing, here is an example :

Daidoji Rekai xp 2: Battle: Once per turn, move Rekai into the current battle [...]

or

Matsu Hataki xp : Battle: If you are the Defender, straighten Hataki (if bowed) and move him into the current battle.

So the question is : can I use those abilities during battle if the personality is home when I want to move it ?

Yes.

As a separate matter, notice that Rekai's action needs to target a card to shoot. If there's no one for her to shoot, she can't use her action. This has nothing to do with any restrictions on moving, though.

Quick Rules Question

Yes, it's that time of year again, when I poke my head out of whatever other reality I live in to ask a rules question! A friend and I were having a bit of trouble with Faith in my Clan. When it says "Reaction: Cancel an action," Basically, could someone fill me in on the difference between "action" and "Action." For whatever reason (and I admit I'm not truly a rules lawyer) it just seems wrong to me that FimC can cancel a Reaction, but he asserts that it can.

"action" -- all lower case -- means any Limited, Battle, Open, or Reaction action of any kind. "Action card" is one particular type of card, matching the picture on either p. 13 or p. 18 of the Gold Edition rulebook. The word "Action" alone -- capitalized, without "card" -- should not appear anywhere.

Exp and Exp2

I'm not clear on the rule about uniqeness.

Can I bring exp2 version of the same personality into play if the exp version is already in play without overlaying?

You may not have two cards in play that have the same title and both have the Unique trait. If the Exp version is in play, you may neither play the Exp 2 version separately nor overlay it on top of a non-Experienced one.

When playing the Iron Fortress of the Daidoji, when does the gold cost increase get applied to non-Samurai and non-Shugenja personalities?

At all times.

I'm asking because if, for example, I have Asahina Kimita in play and she casts I Give You My Name (using good old Megumi) can I fetch an Oni no Fushiki (or other 9GC or less oni)?

No, because the Oni costs 12 for you.

That leads me to my next question. Does the "ignore play restrictions" clause on IGYMN bypass the gold increase if it is always in effect (like the Spawning grounds bonus)?

No.

Also, does that mean a Kaiu Walls player can now summon Oni into play, or that I can attach an Oni Horde to a non-oni personality?

Yes and yes.

Rikugunshokan + Ginawa-sama

Let's say I have Rikugunshokan and Akodo Ginawa exp[lots] in play. I use Ginawa-sama's ability to draw a card.

Rikugunshokan: While this Follower is attached, its Personality gains the Tactician trait. You must declare an attack and assign this unit each turn if you can legally do so. If you cannot asign this unit, lose 2 Honor.

Will I lose 2 honor this turn because I did not assign Rikugunshokan to a battle or do I not lose 2 honor because there was no battle to which I could not assign the unit?

You lose 2 because you could not assign the unit.

Dark Rings

Can the Candle of the Void and its related items be used to put into play the Dark Rings? What about the Armor of Osano-Wo?

Yes and yes.

Um - just got done looking at the list of rulings on deathseeker - Ki-Rin Shrine EXP and Bayushi Yojiro Exp 2 (or 3 whichever it is) NO LONGER ADD HONOR WHEN BUYING PEEP IN FOR FULL? When did this happen?

When Broken Blades officially went on sale. The rulesheet in that set changed the timing of how honor is gained.

The Fall of Otosan Uchi

The Fall of Otosan Uchi, the next expansion set is coming soon, and Mark Jelfo wrote a quick note to indicate that the preview material will begin coming out October 28th. He notes: "You will also see the return of some favorite characters in this set (KOKUJIN!), as well as some truly AWESOME Political / Courier-based cards."

I was reading the teaser for the next set and I see a strange contradicton. As this set represents the fall of the imperial capitol, where court is held, why the focus on couriers?

The article says "You will see some truly AWESOME Political / Courier[sic]-based cards." It would be an extrapolation to read that as saying Political actions are the set's focus. The Fall is not going to short-change any mechanical aspects of the game just because this chapter of the story features one particular faction gaining a distinct upper hand. There will still be Courtiers, Honor-producing cards, dueling cards, non-Shadowlands Personalities... Face it, a set of seventy-five oni and seventy-five "Bow an Oni to kill something" cards would be boring.
