Koku Redemption
I just received the cards for my koku - I selected four, but got four different ones.
Are some of the cards listed on the koku redemption page temporarily or permanently out of stock or are cards just selected randomly anyway?
If you got random cards, it's because we were out of the ones you requested.
The page says that "All selections are limited by availability", will the page be updated in the near future to reflect availability? I have about 200 more koku, but don't want to send them in until I know what to expect :-)
The page right now lists which Spirit Wars rares are gone. By the end of the week, that list should be cycled out and replaced with the one in the next Herald after the SW one. We deliberately left the SW card selection up far longer than we normally do due to its long-out-of-print status.
Questions for Certainties Sake
Just to be absolutely clear.
1) Do the new Dark Ring of X count as elemental rings for effects that look only for Elemental Rings?
They are definitely of the Elemental Ring card type.
2) Does the Dark Ring of X count as the Ring of X for things that look for the Ring of X - eg Dark Ring of Fire vs Ring of Fire for Will of Fire.

Retirement
If Akodo Tadenori is hit by retirement, and next turn he tacticians a Focus Four, is he 0 force or four force. Seems like 0, but not sure.
Retirement gives him a permanent -4F. [card text] 0 - 4 + 4 = 0.

Why is the Gold production for Armor and Weapons not affected by either Mine? Backsmiths say it is producing Gold and the Mines change the production of gold....
Let's read the cards:
Blacksmiths Bow the Blacksmiths to produce 2 Gold, plus 1 Gold for each Iron Mine in play. Bow the Blacksmiths to produce 4 Gold when paying for Armor or a Weapon.
Corrupted Iron Mine Each Blacksmiths produces 1 less Gold instead of 1 extra Gold when bowed. Bow the Corrupted Iron Mine to produce 2 Gold. If you are a Crab Clan player, bow the Corrupted Iron Mine to produce 3 Gold. Either way, lose 1 Honor.
The key point is that Corrupted Iron Mine says "1 less Gold INSTEAD OF 1 EXTRA Gold". Blacksmiths does not produce extra Gold per Iron Mine when buying a Weapon or Armor, so it can't produce less "instead of" extra.
Black Scrolls & Kuni Utagu / Black Scrolls & Osano-Wo
A Shugenja with Armor of Osano-Wo strapped on cannot be targetted by Black Scroll effects. Let's say this same (non-shadowlands) Shugenja actually has a Black Scroll attached. Since Gold Targeting Rules, it seems that the -1 Chi token gathered when said Shugenja unbows is now an effect targetting the Shugenja, right ? (it doesn't specify it doesn't target, it doesn't apply to its own card, and doesn't affect a whole group of cards) So if I'm reading this right, a Shugenja wearing Black Scrolls & the Armor is immune to the corruption tokens ?
That is correct.
So I guess the same would go for Kuni Utagu? If he had a black scroll he wouldn't get the Corruption tokens?
Right. He wouldn't.
Hida Utaemon
This is the promo for Season of the Crab.
Some people already have it in French, even if the English is not yet shipped (a per previous Jeff Alexander mail). When will this card be legal for tournaments?
The same time any promo becomes legal: at the same the very next set after the promo -- in this case, The Fall of Otosan Uchi -- becomes legal.
Season of the Crab should be from October the 1st to November the 30th, so it should already be legal no?
The "Season of..." promos so far have not been legal in their own promotional events UNLESS the store chooses to run a sealed-deck league instead of a constructed tournament.
As a season of promo, when do the card be available for tourney, as the release of the season? Or 30 days after? Or 30 days after the next expansion?
