A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So today I noticed that the promo of AoOW says "Elemental Reaction: If you are the attacker, instead of destroying the province that this personality is attacking, put the ring of earth into play."
Whereas the version my buddy Jared was using (the old one) said when this personality is in an army that destroys a province etcetera etcetera...
So is the old version still correct (it was a multiplayer and he saved the province while allied)
The two versions work the same. The Attacker is the only player destroying the Province, so he is the only player who can use a Reaction to do something else "instead of" destroy the Province. I'm afraid Jed used the old Armor illegally if he was only an ally.

Bowed Personalites
I was told that a bowed personality was considered 0 force when being targeted for ranged attacks. Is this True?
No. Individual cards do not have their Force changed to 0. What happens is that bowed Followers are unable to add their Force to the total Force of their unit, and a bowed Personality stops all cards in that unit from adding their Force to the total. Effects that care about the Force of individual cards, like ranged attacks, always use the full Force of cards even when they're bowed. Only effects that care about the Force totals of entire units or armies, like Retreat and To Do What We Must, work differently depending on whether things are bowed.
Sunetra Question
I have four provinces in play, my opponent attacks my fatemost with sunetra, I defend with kwanchai, my opponent says that we solve dynmost first, he then moves sunetra to that battle.
Is this a legal play with sunetra, or sunetra needs to be in battle and then move to another province.
Sunetra's own text allows him to move from his current battle to any other, so nothing is violated there. And moving one of your own units into the current battle always satisfies both Presence and Relevance, so it's fine under general rules too. It's completely legal.
retirement rules question
If Iajasu gets retired, would he tactition for -2 force?, because the -4 force is perminant and therefore a constant effect.
If Ijiasu or any other 2F Personality is hit with Retirement, that -4 penalty drags his "true" Force to -2, and any Force bonus he gets, whether from the Tactician trait or something else, will have to compensate for that penalty first before raising his actual Force above 0.
