question:overconfidence
I have a serious question about overconfidence.
If I attach a Die Tsuchi to a personality with 3 or less Chi during my limited phase, can my opponent react with overconfidence to bow him for 2 turns?
Yes. By MRP, Overconfidence can be played after any Force bonus, not just one which is the direct result of an action.
This seems to me to be WAY overpowered. I mean are there ANY rulings in the Gold environment that favor a military deck?
You mean besides the fact that honor decks can't use the Favor to both draw cards AND send people home?
Rules Question
I have a question for the rulez guy here
I already know that you can use the Yu Trait, even if you destroyed Trenches instead of your army, but does that work as a trigger for The Ring of Water?
No. [AOF rulebook p. 58] The only time you "destroy an army" is when you win or tie with an opposing army during Battle Resolution. Yu does not destroy armies, it destroys cards.
post for 31 January 2002
Is the creation of a duel an effect of the Iron Fortess's Battle action? Basically, whenever a challenge is made by any action, is that considered to be an effect of that action? And if so, does that mean that at least one part of that action has resolved, namely the creation of a challenge?
Yes and yes. (Where are you going with this? I'm curious.)
Oh, and please crop your reply next time to just the relevant lines. Thanks.
Gaijutsu no Shiryo/Dragon Tat question
I've got Gaijutsu no Shiryo with a Dragon Tattoo on Samurai A.
Samurai A gets 3 fire tokens.
Gaijutsu no Shiryo moves to Samurai B.
Samurai B gets 3 fire tokens.
I move 1 fire token from Samurai B to Samurai A using Sympathetic Energies.
Samurai A has 4 fire tokens. Samurai B has 2 fire tokens.
On my next turn, I move Gaijutsu no Shiryo back to Samurai A.
Samurai A now has the "may not have more than 3 tokens" restriction.
What happens to the 4th token?
Nothing. It's like having four Spells on a 4C Shugenja and then giving the Shugenja -1C.
Isawa'a Wish Qstn.
If the Isawa'a Wish is used by you, and your opponent chooses to destroy the Wind you are playing with, how does that affect the game? Can you still take the favor? Can it do anything if you can take it? Does it only allow you to use it for cards in your hand, or stronghold abilities? Can you still use your Wind's ability? Thank You!
You can still Lobby and use the Favor for things like attaching the Imperial Standard. You just can't discard the Favor to power your Wind's ability, since you don't have a Wind anymore.
ToC and IF WAS: post for 31 January 2002
A Test of Courage interacts in a manner cleanly defined by card and Stronghold text and the Oni's Fury rulebook. I see no need for a change.
While I myself don't buy the canceling argument that you respond to here, what I am confused about is how ToC targets the IF action in the first place.
It is my understanding that IF produces an optional effect. I would assume that ToC would have to be targeting the optional effect, not the action itself, in order to work. This would imply that ToC doesn't work on the IF action.
I don't know what you mean when you say "target the optional effect".
The Iron Fortress's action is sending the unit home. It's an effect which does not always happen, true...but that's irrelevant. It is also due to a decision made by someone other than the Fortress's controller...and that's also irrelevant. If and when the Stronghold's action tries to send the unit home, it fits the trigger condition specified in A Test of Courage, and so AToC may be played as a Reaction.
Are all optional effects targetable as if they were the required effects all the time? Can cards be forward looking to player decisions?
Critical point: A Test of Courage's MRP is no longer forward-looking. It's played when the send-home effect occurs.
even more on koku
Ok I heard earlier that people out side the US could send in a international coupon order( think thats what its called) so AEG could send you the cards you asked for. However, when I talked to the people at my local postoffice they said that AEG would have to take the ICO to their post office to redeam it for a stamp, would AEG do this? I am guessing no cause they probabily have better things to do? Has anyone done this yet? This is the only way I can think of a non-US person to redeam their koku; is there a better way?
We accept IRCs (International Reply Coupons) for international orders. Make sure you include TWO, since just one will not cover the cost of the return postage. (Ray tells me they're worth about 40 cents US each.)
Now I also heard that there are 2 unique promos that are redeamable only for IA members, is this true
