Rules question: Iron Fortress and Test of Courage/M ind Boggling world of L5R!
I'm clear on Defend your Honor. I just remembered it wrong. I thought it cancelled the entire action, not just the honor loss. My mistake. But, it only affects the one aspect of the duel, the honor loss. However, in your example for the Iron Fortress, the ToC supposedly cancels the entire action, and not just an effect of the action. I'd like to point out this problem:
"However, Test of Courage can be played when this "action" is sending your unit home, thus cancelling the overall effect"
Any action that is cancelled is considered to never have occured, thus the bowing again for the Imperial Favor after having a first lobby attempt "cancelled". So the paradox occurs again. If the action is considered to not have occured, then how can the TOC respond?
Taking this point of view, how can ANY Reaction which cancels another action ever be legal? Think about it. Nothing that cancels anything can ever be played without causing this paradox. Yet there are many, many canceling Reactions already in the game where this behavior is not an issue.
It should ONLY prevent the unit from going home. It should not affect the fact that the personality DID refuse the duel and so should dishonor the personality. So, ToC should be changed to state that it negates effects that would send the unit home instead of cancelling the entire action. Why? Because it makes no sense. Is there anyone else who may somewhat agree on the ill-logic of the card?
A Test of Courage interacts in a manner cleanly defined by card and Stronghold text and the Oni's Fury rulebook. I see no need for a change.
Shugenja Question?
Let's say you have a shugenja with the spell Secrets on the Wind attached. The shugenja has a Spirit Guide also attached. You bow the shugenja to dishonor a personality. You then bow the Spirit Guide to straighten the shugenja. Can you then bow the shugenja again during the same turn, to cast Secrets on the Wind again?
Yes.
Someone told me you couldn't, as in a personality cannot bow twice to take the same action twice in the same turn.
You were misinformed. There is no such rule.
Question about Isawa's Last Wish.
Is stronghold cosidered a card?
No. [AOF rulebook p. 6]

If you play the terrain, your opponent may target one of his bowed units: it's only your own actions with which you can't target your bowed personalities.
Correct.
Presumably, this means that ToC can react to the loss of a Show Me Your Stance duel.
It can, but the honor gain to the winner and the dishonoring of the loser still occur because those happen before AToC's trigger, and canceling an action which has already produced some effects does not retroactively undo those effects. [AOF rulebook p. 45]
Rules question: Iron Fortress and Test of Courage/M ind Boggling world of L5R!
Okaaay... So ToC WILL cancel the iron fortress action...
Cancelling implies that the action "never happened". All effects are negated... but costs will obviously not be repaid.
We're all grand with that...
Now we already know that the personality won't be sent home... nor will the bowing effect of the Iron Fortress action take place.
Thus surely the personality shouldn't be dishonoured. If it was then ToC would merely be cancelling an _effect_ - not the full action as it states on the card, ne?
The dishonor won't happen either, as it occurs after the unit goes home.
Imperial assembly
Can anyone tell me if there is any way to become a member of the Imperial Assembly over the net or do I have to send in a request with snail mail.

The Company You Keep Question
If this card is played on a dishonored personality and the personality is then re-honored (in the same turn of course), which Personal Honor is the trigger for dishonoring personalities brought into play?
Is it 0 because that was the personal honor of the personality targeted when CYK was played or is it whatever the personal honor of the targeted personality is at the dynasty phase?
Whatever it is when the new Personalities enter play.
Clan War Unicorn Exp.
Can anyone tell me what was in Clan War Unicorn Exp. and if the cards are gold leagal.
Clan War is the L5R tabletop wargame, using dice and metal miniatures. Cards packed into its expansions can't be used in the L5R Collectible Card Game.
Okay
Has AEG *confirmed* the Mantis stronghold?
No.
Why not?
Because that would have comitted us very early to doing something we weren't, at the time, absolutely positive we'd be able to accomplish in a satisfactory manner, and doing that is not wise. By waiting until the set is actually being manufactured to tell everyone authoritatively what's in it, we leave ourselves a window of escape in the unlikely event we are not able to reach our internal goals and need to resort to an alternate plan. Advertisements and such need to be prepared well ahead of product release dates, so those get made based on our desires and informed projections.
Question
A question that came up last night in a game. Does rallying cry target?
No.
