Rules for 10 August 2001
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
I've been informed that there's an error on my "Gold legal" cardlist on Steel and Iron.
Fury of the Earth, which was to have been printed in The Spirit Wars with the Gold kanji (and was listed in the back of the rulebook), apparently was not. This makes the Pearl Edition version the most recent printing, and that doesn't have the Gold kanji.
I should have the list corrected right away. Apologies for the inaccuracy.
Shadowlands
Do Shadowlands lose honor? Or, more specifically, can Doji Shizue use her ability when they lose honor?
No. No.
Iaijutsu Art question
Are reactions like Poisoned Weapon, Bend Like a Reed, and Kakita Noritoshi's ability legal to play during an Iaijutsu Art?
See Rules Archive.
Generally, yes, but "You may not use a Reaction that gives you another focus if you have already focused. [Card text] Reactions that only add as though they were focused are legal (e.g., Bend Like a Reed)."
And there's no general prohibition against Reactions on the card text, is there?
Dai Tsuchi question
"Crab Personality" looks wrong for Gold Edition. This usage was common is older sets, but the word "Clan" has been added to reprinted cards. Are there any Crab creatures in the game?
See Rules Archive.
General Rules, Faction affiliations: "'X Personality' is synonymous with 'X Clan Personality.'" [ZF, 24 May 2001]"
End of battle - ruling needed
I am slightly unsure of the exact timing involved. For example, is "Rallying Cry" played BEFORE or AFTER the battle ends?
Could you be more specific? Some people might consider the battle to "end" when the action segment is over and you count force totals. Others might say it "ends" when the resolution segment is over.
Rallying Cry is not a card to try to draw any general conclusions from, because its effects occur *before* it is played. Really.
Its card text clearly places the window of opportunity for playing is *AFTER* the resolution segment, but it changes the status of something that occurs *DURING* the resolution segment. It's that whole retroactive thing that we've been, um, discussing on this list.
Digest lost
Could anybody send me the digest ' 7 Aug 2001 ' ? I not receive it from the server.
You can get it yourself. If you read the introductory e-mail that everyone on the Wizards listserver receives when they join:
"Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX L5RInfo" command to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM. You can then order these files with a "GET L5RInfo LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.
You folks on the Darkedge list should be able to get old digests you might miss, too, but the commands may be different.
Just one wind?
Do you choose your wind before each game or Do you just choose one wind and run with it?
See Rules Archive.
The latter.
