Rules for 15 January 2001
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Rulings for 14 January 2000
So let me ask you, then, Jeff -
What is the difference between this, and Footsteps of Madness?
after all, if an Action is canceled (and thus "never happened"), how can it be considered to have been used?
Because Footsteps of Madness says so. Cards can override rules.
Rulings
There is no rule in the rulebook that an action with multiple effects cannot be performed *at all* if there is no legal target for one of those effects.
Time to email Paul and make sure one gets put in for Gold, then. I'm not surprised there isn't such a rule in print anywhere...it's one of those rules that's easy to assume MUST be there somewhere.
A targeted action can be taken only if legal targets exist. The "all effects are seperate" rule doesn't come into play unless effects start getting negated.
Flee the Darkness vs Hitomi exp. 3
No, I think it is because the rulebook says one lobby attempt per turn. It would clarify things if there was a general rule that all of the following phrases were deemed equivalent:
"One attempt per turn" "Once per turn" "Useable once per turn"
So let them be deemed.
