Temple of Purity vs Shameful Injury

L5R CCG Rules board, 6 March 2012 to 8 March 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 6 March 2012

I searched and found some old posts regarding Plains of Resolution and Temple of Purity but nothing about ToP vs SI.

Temple of Purity: Open: Even if this card is bowed, target another player's Personality: Give him -4F, which will not be negated. If he is Kolat, Ninja, or Shadowlands, you control an Inquisitor, and it is not your turn, choose a player, who gains or loses 2 Honor.

vs

Shameful Injury: Battle: Even if you control no units at the current battlefield, target a Personality: Negate all current and new Force bonuses and penalties on him from actions.

So what happens to the personality that is hit by both of these?

Does he: A - Still have -4F and cannot get bonuses or penalties? B - Have the -4F negated as it is only "will not be negated" when it is played so things like Footsteps of Madness can't stop it? C - Something else?

Option A is correct.

The "will not be negated" clause of the -4F effect from Temple of Purity persists for the duration of the effect.

The negation effect from Shameful Injury will still try to end or prevent any other Force bonus currently on or applied to the Personality for the remainder of the turn.
