When paying for an action: produce gold

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 January 2012 to 27 January 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

All the cards that say when paying for an action: produce gold, does using the limited/battle/open action to attach an attachment from your hand to a personality, is that considered a legal action to use cards that say this to produce gold? example; I play a 2 gold weapon from my hand and react with luxurious silk to pay the two gold. is that legal?

Attachments typically enter play as an effect of an action, but the cost of the attachment is separate from the costs of the action, and cannot be paid by an ability or trait that can only pay for an action.
